Le programme d'aide à l'aménagement des ravages de cerfs de Virginie (PAAR) poursuit trois grands objectifs : conserver les peuplements résineux et mélangés qui servent d'abris aux cerfs; aménager ces peuplements par des coupes forestières qui favorisent leur maintien ou accélèrent leur croissance; sensibiliser les propriétaires de boisés privés au potentiel de leurs terres comme habitats fauniques et les aider à mettre en valeur ce potentiel. Ce programme a été élaboré en harmonie avec les intervenants du milieu forestier. Il est complémentaire au Programme d'aide à la mise en valeur des forêts privées des agences forestières régionales.
