The Yale Food Addiction Scale(YFAS) measures remain the most common empirical approach for operationalizing UPF addiction.... the YFAS(YFAS 2. 0) parallels the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders(5th edition; DSM-5) approach for diagnosing SUDs [substance-use disorders]. Specifically, individuals can meet for UPF addiction by endorsing at least two of the 11 symptoms of SUDs with respect to their intake of UPFs(e. g., use despite negative consequences, persistent unsuccessful attempts to cut down, withdrawal), plus clinically significant impairment(e. g., interference with role obligations) or psychological distress. 6, record 15, English, - ultra%2Dprocessed%20food%20addiction

This model fosters transparency regarding production methods and pricing, facilitating relational trust between those who grow food and those who consume it. When a tree seed germinates, the first(primary) root grows down in the soil in response to gravity. Secondary roots then branch off horizontally, with subsequent branching into tertiary roots, etc. Absorption of water and mineral nutrients is the function of the very fine, non-woody roots(the feeder roots). With continued growth, each root will lose its ability for absorption. These larger woody roots then function as the transport system for water and nutrients from the new feeder roots to the stem. They are also the tree's system of anchorage and a food storage area. The resulting system thus consists of several main transport roots that extend radically and horizontally from the tree base and divide into ever smaller roots, each ending in a dense mass of fine feeder roots. 2, record 22, English, - feeder%20roots

Under inhumane conditions, one can hardly be surprised if a suspect confesses purely out of a desire to escape those conditions. Such a confession is not voluntary.... In our recent ethnographic explorations we work with people who have moved from non-rural contexts to the countryside for ideological and/or practical reasons to implement the peasant lifestyle and economy... We use the concept of "neo-peasants" to define this group. Many of neo-peasants believe that a sustainable lifestyle can only be implemented in the countryside, and that cities are by definition unsustainable. They mainly originate from movements that call for self-management, direct democracy, responsible consumption, food sovereignty, autonomy, and degrowth. 1, record 38, English, - neo%2Dpeasant

Tetanus(lockjaw) is caused by neurotoxins produced by the bacteria Clostridium tetani, particularly in deep or closed wounds, such as puncture wounds, but may occur, due to intestinal infections. This highly fatal disease is a constant threat for all horses as the bacteria are widely distributed in soil and manure.... Clinical signs of tetanus in affected horses begin following an incubation period of 3 days to several weeks, but usually 1 to 2 weeks. Muscle spasms and stiff paralysis progressing from the head to the neck, front, and then hind legs occurs.... The horse may be unable to swallow, resulting in saliva dripping from the mouth and regurgitation of ingested food and water through the nose. 3, record 41, French, - t%C3%A9tanos

Healthism is roughly the(pervasive and penetrating) ideology according to which people are socially obligated to prioritize and value health and "healthy living" over other goals and without exception... Under healthism, people are expected to modulate and discipline multiple dimensions of their life through the lens of health : we should eat healthy food, maintain a healthy weight, build healthy relationships, which in turn sustain healthy boundaries, make sure to keep a healthy attitude towards life, buy products to ensure healthy skin, safeguard healthy finances, and so forth. If we make a decision that does not maximize health in a narrow physical sense, like eating a piece of chocolate cake or skipping a workout, we are socially encouraged to justify that choice, not in terms of reasonable competing values, but in terms of our "mental health" or our need for "self-care.

A plancha is a common flat-top griddle used in Spanish cooking that combines high-temperature searing with a small amount of smoking.... Like the griddles used in fast food joints to sear hamburger patties, the plancha is heated to a scorching temperature of around 350 °C(or 662 °F). Unlike a griddle, the highest heat is concentrated at the center of the metal plate, allowing for different ingredients to be shifted easily without adjusting the intensity of the heat source, while being cooked simultaneously. 3, record 75, English, - plancha
