The estimation of fisheries potential from individual lakes, reservoirs and rivers is important for management. Such estimates can be used to guide policy with regard to the amount of investment in administrative, transport, marketing, and research infrastructure to be invested, to assess the number of fishermen who should be permitted access and the food supplies to be anticipated. Knowledge of fisheries potential is also important in estimating the exploitation status of the waterbody for formulating management strategies... 3, record 1, English, - fishery%20potential

One way to know if you are getting the Recommended Dietary Allowance(RDA) for all the nutrients you need is to follow the Food Guide Pyramid. It provides from 1600 to over 2800 calories per day depending on which foods and the number of servings you eat. The assumption is made if you will choose a variety of foods from each of the 5 food groups(Grain, Vegetable, Fruit, Milk, Meat) then you will probably get 100% of your RDA. 5, record 3, English, - recommended%20dietary%20allowance

Ottawa : Health Canada, c2007. Canada's first food guide, the Official Food Rules, was introduced to the public in July 1942. This guide acknowledged wartime food rationing, while endeavoring to prevent nutritional deficiencies and to improve the health of Canadians. Since 1942, the food guide has been transformed many times-it has adopted new names, new looks, and new messages, yet has never wavered from its original purpose of guiding food selection and promoting the nutritional health of Canadians. The title of Canada's food guides has changed over time. Canada's Official Food Rules(1942) became Canada's Food Rules(1944, 1949), then Canada's Food Guide(1961, 1977, 1982). Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating(1992) has now evolved to Eating Well with Canada's Food Guide(2007). The title changes signify an evolution in the positioning and philosophy of the food guide. This report documents the processes and influences that shaped the development of Canada's food guides, the changes that occurred from the 1942 Official Food Rules to the 2007 Eating Well with Canada's Food Guide, and the strategies that were used to encourage Canadians to follow the guides. 1, record 12, English, - Eating%20Well%20with%20Canada%27s%20Food%20Guide

Its purpose is to promote the benefits of healthy eating, regular physical activity and healthy weights and to show you how to manage them so you can maintain a healthy lifestyle. In this Guide, you will be able to get the information you need on how to eat well, be active and achieve and maintain a healthy body weight, all in one document. Canada's Guide to Healthy Eating and Physical Activity does not replace the current Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating and Canada's Physical Activity Guide to Healthy Active Living. CFISIG(Canadian Food Inspection System Implementation Group) is also working to develop a comprehensive set of model regulations and codes of practice for each industry sector. The model standards guide each jurisdiction in molding its own laws and codes of practice. The model regulations are "outcome based" : that is, government specifies the required food safety outcomes which industry must, by law, achieve. To assist both government and industry in doing the job, the model regulations are supported by comprehensive codes of practice. The codes provide detailed explanations of ways and means in which the outcomes required by the regulations can be achieved. 2, record 17, English, - model%20regulations

The government will establish and publish by 1995 standards of services for each government department. A number are already in place. For example, the 1993 personal Income Tax Guide states that processing personal income tax returns normally takes four to six weeks and describes how taxpayers can get assistance and have problems resolved. Agriculture Canada has recently announced a Single Access Food Labelling Service for the Canadian food industry, providing the industry with a single window for advice and assessment and a commitment to complete food labelling assessments within ten working days. The government will issue by the summer of 1994 a declaration of quality service delivery standards to Canadians that all departments and public servants will be expected to honour. 1, record 24, English, - declaration%20of%20quality%20service%20delivery%20standards

To be useful as an operational guide, social scoping is often cast in terms of the plant or animal species perceived by society to be important. Thus, among other more ecological criteria, Carins(1975) used commercial, recreational or aesthetic values as some of the bases for establishing a list of critical species. Similarly, Trutt(1978) established the focus for a major impact research programme on ’key species’ which were defined on the basis of abundance, and commercial, recreational and food value to man. 1, record 26, English, - critical%20species
