Gastric sleeve surgery is a type of weight-loss surgery.... This surgery is also known as sleeve gastrectomy or vertical sleeve gastrectomy(VSG). Gastric sleeve surgery restricts your food intake, which leads to weight loss.... Most of the left part of the stomach is removed. The remaining stomach is then a narrow tube called a sleeve. Food empties out of the bottom of the stomach into the small intestine the same way that it did before surgery. 1, record 2, English, - gastric%20sleeve%20surgery

Biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch is a modification of the biliopancreatic diversion procedure ... Biliopancreatic diversion is primarily a malabsorptive procedure. The standard procedure involves the removal of part of the stomach (a limited horizontal gastrectomy) to limit oral intake and induce weight loss. ... The combination of biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch is an additional adaptation of the standard procedure. In a biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch, a portion of the stomach is removed but the pylorus remains intact. The pylorus, which controls food drainage from the stomach, is connected to a lower segment of the intestine. The duodenum is connected to the lower part of the small intestine. The food you eat then bypasses much of the small intestine. This results in fewer calories absorbed and weight loss. 6, record 3, English, - biliopancreatic%20diversion%20with%20duodenal%20switch

Altering the composition of the gaseous environment which a food product contacts reduces the rate of microbiological growth and enzymatic action, reduces the rate of oxidation, and also retards the loss of product water content through respiration of differential water-vapor pressure.... Controlled atmosphere packaging(CAP) means actually controlling the total gaseous environment the product experiences. In commercial practice, it usually means lowering the oxygen and raising the CO2 and assuring that O2 does not diminish to extinction while the respiratory gases are swept out. Controlled atmosphere packaging implies constant control over all gases : O2, CO2, H2O, and ethylene and other trace gases. 4, record 14, English, - controlled%20atmosphere%20packaging

This layer is not self-supporting. Traditionally it is used to improve handling properties(M&M's melt in your mouth, not in your hand) or to prevent moisture loss... It can also be used as an adhesive to seasonings on snack foods..., as a glaze on baked goods... and to increase shelf life and reduce the need of packaging material. The shelf life is extended, because the film acts as a barrier to moisture and/or oil and/or vapor transmission. An edible coating has to have good eating properties : acceptable color, odor, taste, flavor and texture or be undetectable. An other requirement is that it must adhere to the food, but(in most cases) does not stick to packaging material. 3, record 16, English, - edible%20coating
