External release of radioactivity resulting in a dose to the most exposed individual off-site of the order of a few milisieverts. With such a release the need for off-site protective actions would be generally unlikely except possibly for local food control. Significant damage to the nuclear facility. Such an accident might include damage to nuclear plant leading to major on-site recovery problems such as partial core melt in a power reactor and comparable events at non-reactor installations. The single-celled animal most commonly studied by medical students is the paramecium, found in stagnant water.... Under the microscope these tiny animals are seen to possess the ability to respond to certain external stimuli such as light, heat, food, etc. These responses to stimuli are called tropisms, from the Greek word tropein, meaning to turn. Response to chemical action is called chemotropism; to light, heliotropism; to heat, thermotropism; to food, sitotropism; to electricity, electropism or galvanotropism; to touch, thigmotropism; to oxygen, oxytropism; to gravity, geotropism.... By sitotropism, or response to food, a cell has power not only to be attracted by food but also to select the kind of food best suited to its need by what we call selective absorption. 2, record 8, English, - sitotropism

A new type of electric motor, a brushless motor with no windings or permanent magnets on its rotor. When a current flows in one of the group of windings in the case around the rotor, it creates a magnetic effect which pulls a tooth on the rotor into a position of "minimum reluctance". Rotation continues by switching the current to another winding and pulling another tooth into position. Switch the current fast enough, and the motor spins. 1, record 14, English, - switched%20reluctance%20motor

Such motors have been turning since 1840, but the new SRM designs provide a practical way of switching large currents many thousands of times a second. Several companies including Black and Decker(power tools), Kenwood(food mixes) and Vent-Axia(fans) are sponsoring an SRM development programme. This technology may produce smaller and even simpler electric motors that could be integrated within the hub of a carwheel or of a boat. 1, record 14, English, - switched%20reluctance%20motor
