The Food Research Division of the Bureau of Chemical Safety engages in a range of research activities related to the identification, determination, distribution, and sources of, and of the effects of processing on, potentially hazardous chemicals in the food supply. Major activities of the Division are the development of methods of analysis for such chemicals, the conduct of surveys to determine the levels and extent of contamination of food; as well as National Surveys to determine human exposure to these chemicals. These National Surveys include the Total Diet Study, and the Human Breast Milk Survey. La Division de la recherche sur les aliments du Bureau d'innocuité des produits chimiques s'acquitte d'un vaste éventail d'activités de recherche se rapportant à l'identification, à la caractérisation, à la distribution et à l'origine des produits chimiques qui peuvent présenter un danger pour l'approvisionnement. Elle surveille également les effets de la transformation des aliments sur ces produits. Les principales activités de la Division consistent à élaborer des méthodes d'analyse pour de tels produits chimiques; à effectuer des enquêtes pour déterminer les niveaux de contamination des aliments et l'étendue de celle-ci; et à effectuer des enquêtes nationales pour déterminer le niveau d'exposition des humains à ces produits chimiques. Parmi ces enquêtes notons l'Étude sur l'alimentation totale et l'Étude du lait maternel.
