FORCE CLOSURE [8 records]

Record 1 2011-11-09

English

Subject field(s)
  • Production (Economics)
  • Oil Production
DEF

The preservation of a production facility without using it to produce, but keeping the machinery in working order and supplies available.

CONT

A program of extended maintenance was undertaken with the major components being "preserved" with anti-rust chemical coatings and regular inspection. This "mothballing" was put into place as an economy measure should demand ever make its use an economical proposition. At various times equipment was removed and relocated ...

CONT

... the loss of 1, 600 jobs implies closure rather than a realistic mothball. Proper mothballing would leave enough people in place to pick up production as soon as an opportunity arises. Therefore keeping people in work must be a priority... Mothballing must be real and viable, and that has to mean keeping not just the plant, but the highly skilled work force, ready to restart production at short notice when market conditions change.

CONT

The Priority Placement Program(PPP) is an automated mandatory placement program used to match eligible well-qualified employees, most of whom are subject to displacement, with vacant DoD [Department of Defense] position. It enables the Department to maintain a relatively stable work force during base realignment and closure, reduction in force(RIF), and other displacement actions, and minimizes the adverse effect of these actions on employees.

CONT

The roll-on closure is used in the food, carbonated beverage, and pharmaceutical markets where pressure sealing is required ... A widely used version today is the tamper-evident roll-on [closure]. A tear band perforated along the bottom of the closure skirt is tucked under a locking ring during capping by a special roller. When opened by the consumer, the band separates from the closure to provide visible evidence of tampering.

OBS

roll-on cap : A type of closure made usually of metal, for application to threads on the outside surface of the neck of glass containers. Supplied as an unthreaded cap that is placed over the sealing area of the container. Then, under controlled top-pressure, the skirt is pressed against the threads by a rotating head equipped with rollers that press the metal with sufficient force to make it conform to the finish on the container, thus forming threads on the cap or closure.

OBS

Although the terms "closure" and "cap" may be seen as different when standing alone, we think they should be recognized as synonyms when properly qualified.

OBS

Proper name : Brown-Adson Tissue Forceps..... Features : Tip-two rows of interlocking teeth(lengthwise) ;cutter shank-horizontal serrations. Uses : Clamp force is distributed more evenly, thereby causing less trauma than Adson forceps. Used by [enterology] and plastic surgeons for wound closure.

OBS
