3, record 8, Spanish, - microscopio%20de%20fuerza%20at%C3%B3mica%20en%20modo%20contacto

By drawing an analogy between linear and rotational dynamics, an equation describing the viscous torque acting on an object rotating in a fluid can be anticipated. Stokes’ and Newton's models of a viscous drag force are commonly used to describe the damping force acting on an object moving linearly through a fluid. This experiment demonstrates that these models can be extended to describe the viscous torque that damps the rotation of an object in a fluid. When the rotating object is round, the fluid flow is laminar; hence, the viscous torque is proportional to the angular velocity to the first power, analogous to Stokes’ model. However, when the rotating object is rough, causing the fluid flow to be turbulent, the viscous torque is proportional to the angular velocity to the second power, analogous to Newton's model. In addition, this experiment demonstrates that the proportionality constant between viscous torque and angular velocity is dependent on the shape of the object, as is the case in both Stokes’ and Newton's models. 1, record 20, English, - viscous%20torque

There is one other indicator that the earth is rotating in space. The fact that low pressure regions spin with an anticlockwise motion in the Southern hemisphere, yet in the Northern hemisphere(the high pressure regions) spin with an anticlockwise motion and vice versa raises the question as to what force is being exerted on these winds. Studies of rotating bodies show there is an apparent Coriolis acceleration, which acts sideways on moving objects. Only a Coriolis type acceleration seems to explain the earth's winds and this could only occur if the earth rotates. The fact that the wind direction is always constant is evidence of the earth's consistent rotation. 2, record 21, English, - apparent%20Coriolis%20acceleration

Both in Europe(E5, E9) and in Japan(J1, J3), reinforcement and cable systems mimic conventional reinforcement and tendon anchorage details, in the form of bonds with deformed bars or twisted strands and in metallic anchorage housings for prestressing tendons. In Japan, nonmetallic cable anchorages of GFRP were installed in one of the demonstration projects(J4). To eliminate tendon failures in the anchorage, new types of filler materials in the anchor cones need to be developed to ensure a gradual force transfer with constant shear stress distribution between the composite tendons and the anchor block housing. 1, record 25, English, - anchor%20cone

In the torque viscometer, a sensor (spindle) is rotated at some speed through the same couple arrangement which allows the sensor to be displaced to an equilibrium position at which point the calibrated torque spring gives a reference to the viscosity of the fluid being measured. The rotating-vane-type viscosity measuring element depends upon the drag on a rotating member in contact with the material whose viscosity is to be measured. The vane or rotating element is driven by a synchronous electrical motor. The torque required to rotate the member of the vane is measured and is proportional to the viscosity in contact with the rotating element. The synchronous motor drives the cage at a constant speed. The upper spindle arm is coupled to the cage through a calibrated beryllium-copper spring. During measurement, the spring is wound up until its force exactly equals the viscous drag on the spindle; then the cage and spindle continue to operate at the same speed, but with a definite angular relationship to each other proportional to the torque on the spring. 4, record 28, English, - rotating%20spindle%20apparatus%20for%20measuring%20viscosity
