All helicopters incorporate a one-way clutch system that allows the rotor blades to continue to rotate under the effects of inertia and autogiro-type flight in the event of engine failure.... the flow of the airstream through the helicopter rotor disk is reversed. The force of gravity continues the operation of the rotor blade, thereby reducing the rate of descent and allowing a successful emergency landing. Because of the time required to effect this change and the necessity for other flight maneuvers, these characteristics led to the development of a restricted area of operations of the helicopter known as the deadman's curve, bounding that area of height and speed in which the helicopter should not be operated. 1, record 1, English, - deadman%27s%20curve

The inertia forces of rotation distribute the molten metal into the mold cavities during the centrifugal casting, of which there are three categories : true centrifugal casting, semi-centrifugal casting, and centrifuging. The first two processes produce hollow cylindrical shapes and parts with rotational symmetry, respectively. In the third process the mold cavities are spun at a certain radius from the axis of rotation; the centrifugal force thus increases the pressure in the mold cavity. 3, record 2, English, - centrifugal%20casting

Record number: 4, Textual support number: 1 CONT

1, record 8, French, - dispositif%20de%20contre%2Dr%C3%A9action

Hands-on experience with gyroscopes is a good way to help children understand rotational motion. Have students experiment with spinning tops on a large, hard, flat surface such as the gymnasium floor. The students should set the tops spinning and make observations about what happens when they push the spinning tops in certain directions. They can try applying force to the gyroscopes at different heights from the ground to see how this affects the movement of a spinning top. All this can be related to gyroscopic principles(such as precession and gyroscopic inertia), as well as applications of these principles(satellites, bicycles, etc.) in real life. 3, record 9, English, - gyroscopic%20principle

Dust-Separating Fans. A fan may be so constructed as to combine the functions of an exhauster and a centrifugal separator. All fans of this nature concentrate the solids on a portion of the blade surface by inertia or centrifugal force and discharge the solids and air into separate casings or into compartments of the same casing. 1, record 10, English, - dust%2Dseparating%20fan

2, record 10, French, - ventilateur%20pour%20aspiration%20de%20poussi%C3%A8res

A numerical quantity used as an index to characterize the type of flow in a hydraulic structure in which elastic forces, in conjunction with the resisting force of inertia, influence the motion of the liquid. It is the ratio of inertia forces to elastic forces. It is equal to a characteristic velocity of the system, which may be the mean, surface, or maximum velocity, divided by the kinematic elasticity of the liquid; all expressed in consistent units in order that the combinations will be dimensionless. The number is useful in the study of water hammer. 2, record 11, English, - Cauchy%27s%20number

1, record 12, English, - centrifuging
