People who find themselves in domestic servitude – forced to work in private homes cooking, cleaning, washing laundry, taking care of children – are particularly vulnerable to exploitation as they are kept behind closed doors. Pay is often very low, or non-existent, with wage payments frequently delayed or withheld, and they’re often expected to work incredibly long hours. Drying techniques for fish appear at first glance to have been a simple set of spreadings and pilings to keep fish safe and to keep it drying.... for an interspersed day or two[, ] the fish could be put in faggots to press out or "sweat" — that is, have water forced gently out of them. [The fishing] family would pile their fish on the third day regardless of the weather in order to let it sweat before the sun crusted it over and sealed moisture in. 2, record 41, English, - sweat

Extrusion pelleting allows the manufacture of pellets with a greater range of physical and nutritional properties than does steam pelleting. Steam pelleting produces dense pellets that sink quite rapidly. The ingredients are finely ground, mixed, cooked briefly... with steam under pressure to raise the temperature to 70–95°C and the moisture to 15–18%, compressed and forced through a die. The pellets are cut, cooled, dried and may be top-dressed with oil. 3, record 58, English, - steam%20pelleting

Transformational change occurs after the transition period. Transformational change may involve both developmental and transitional change. It is common for transitional and transformation change to occur in tandem. When companies are faced with the emergence of radically different technologies, significant changes in supply and demand, unexpected competition, lack of revenue or other major shifts in how they do business, developmental or transitional change may not offer the company the solution they need to stay competitive. Instead of methodically implementing new processes, the company may be forced to drastically transform themselves. 2, record 61, English, - transformational%20change

La nouvelle situation requiert des modifications fondamentales dans la façon de penser, les façons de s'organiser, les comportements et la culture qui supportent la nouvelle orientation de l'organisation. Anodic stripping voltammetry is a method to demonstrate the presence of multiple metals in water. This method is usually applied to investigate the water quality of surface or drinking water or sewage. 3, record 71, English, - anodic%20stripping%20voltammetry
Record number: 71, Textual support number: 2 CONT
Anodic stripping voltammetry(ASV) is the most common of a class of techniques known as stripping electroanalytical methods(SEAM). The defining characteristic of these methods is the preconcentration of analyte at the electrode surface in order to lower the detection limit for that analyte.... Usually a mercury drop or mercury thin-film electrode is employed under forced convective conditions(stirred solution). The preconcentration step is followed by a short time period in which the solution is allowed to quiet(no stirring), following which a potential scan is initiated from the deposition potential in the anodic direction. ASV is well-suited for the determination of trace amounts of many metal contaminants. “Stripping” refers to the characteristic sharp voltammetric waves that occur for metals as they are oxidized out of mercury, in which many metals form amalgams. 2, record 71, English, - anodic%20stripping%20voltammetry

On 28 December 1807 Father Peter Joseph Triest gathered together a number of young men whose task was to become the care of a group of elderly men. In Ghent, like in many towns in our region, the circumstances in which the poor, the sick, and the elderly were forced to live were abominable. Triest wanted to do something about that. So he founded four congregations. Our story is about one of them : the Brother of Charity. Originally, they were named the Hospital Brothers of St. Vincent. In 1811 the first Brothers took their religious vows. From then on, they lived the life of a religious brother. 1, record 78, English, - Brothers%20of%20Charity

In Slocum’s test, the patient is positioned laterally with the healthy side down. The leg with the injured knee rests only on the medial side of the foot; the knee is unsupported.
