FORCED WARM AIR FURNACE [6 records]

Record 1 1999-10-28

English

Subject field(s)
  • Ovens, Furnaces and Boilers (Heating)
DEF

A furnace equipped with a fan that provides the primary means for the circulation of air.

CONT

Warm air furnaces are of two types, gravity and forced air. Forced warm air furnaces use a motor-driven blower to circulate air over the heat exchanger and through the ducts. A draft hood is attached to the outlet of the furnace and replaces the barometric damper.

OBS

Forced-warm-air furnaces are most commonly fired by LP gas, natural gas or oil and occasionally by wood and coal. They may also operate electrically.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Fours et chaudières (Chauffage)
DEF

Record 2 1999-10-27

English

Subject field(s)
  • HVAC Distribution Systems
  • Building Ventilation
DEF

a series of ducts, elbows, and connectors to convey air from one location to another.

CONT

The ductwork is used to take the forced warm air from the furnace to the supply outlet and the cooler air from the return register back to the furnace.

CONT

In designing a duct system for air conditioning, we must first determine air-outlet locations.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Distribution et évacuation (chauffage et conditionnement d'air)
  • Ventilation (Construction)
DEF

English

Subject field(s)
  • Ovens, Furnaces and Boilers (Heating)
CONT

Forced Air Wood Furnaces. Central wood-burning furnaces are controlled by a wall mounted thermostat in the living area. Temperature and fan controls are the same as those found on oil and gas furnaces. Unlike room heaters, which produce a steady heat output by periodic manual adjustments of the draft control, most wood furnaces operate in cycles. A cycle starts with the thermostat sensing that heat is needed in the room where it is located. It signals the furnace control system which opens the combustion air damper and a hot fire develops. When the air inside the furnace's sheet metal casing gets hot, a preset fan control starts the circulating blower and the warm air is moved through the ducts to all areas of the house.

English

Subject field(s)
  • Electric Heating
  • HVAC Distribution Systems
CONT

To accommodate different house styles, there are three forced air electric furnace designs. The upflow system... Horizontal flow system... Downflow systems take return air through the top of the cabinet and discharge warm air from the bottom. This is the type of system usually installed on the main floor of houses on concrete slabs or in mobile homes.

To accommodate different house styles, there are three forced air electric furnace designs. The upflow system is similar to conventional oil or gas furnaces, discharging warm air from the top of the cabinet into the distribution ducts and taking house air in from the back or top of the cabinet. It is best located in the basement. Horizontal flow systems... Downflow systems...
