The vaporizing pot-type burner prepares the oil for burning by exposing it on the surface of a heated metal plate. The simplest form of this type of burner resembles a bucket with perforated sides and also has a top with a row of closely spaced holes or a slot. The pot-type burner, which can have either manual or automatic ignition, is used for firing space heaters and small central-heating furnaces.

Les brûleurs à gazéification, encore appelés gazéificateurs ou brûleurs à vaporisation, voient leur emploi limité aux petits générateurs d'air, aux poêles à mazout et à des chaudières de faible puissance. Dans le domaine du chauffage, l'emploi du terme "brûleur à pot de gazéification" semble très peu usité. Les auteurs des sources consultées favorisent plutôt l'utilisation du générique "brûleur à vaporisation" et son synonyme "brûleur à gazéification", pour désigner cette notion.

OBS

Le "brûleur à caléfaction" se compose d'une plaque caléfiante (MOMON, BECHB, GUICH, TECHN) alors que le "brûleur à vaporisation" comporte une coupelle métallique. Cet usage ne semble cependant pas très rigoureux.
