The motion of free-floating space robots is characterized by non-holonomic constraints, i.e., non-integrable rate constraint equations. These constraints originate from the principles of conservation of angular momentum. It is well known that these rate constraints can also be written to form an input-affine drift-less control system. Trajectory planning of these systems is extremely challenging and computation intensive since the motion must satisfy differential constraints. Under certain conditions, these drift-less control systems can be shown to be differentially flat. 1, record 1, English, - free%2Dfloating%20space%20robot

To date, most of the research on the control of space robots has centered on "free-floating" robots. Free-floating robots are defined as space robots where the satellite base position and orientation are unactuated. Without base actuation, no external forces or torques act upon the system when the end-effector is not in contact with the work environment. The linear and angular momenta of the system are conserved, so the spacecraft base moves in reaction to commanded arm motion. 2, record 1, English, - free%2Dfloating%20space%20robot

Soft exoskeletons, or exosuits, are clothing-like devices made of fabric or elastomers that wrap around a person's limb and work in parallel with his/her muscles... Characteristic of exosuits is that they rely on the structural integrity of the human body to transfer reaction forces between body segments, rather than having their own frame, thus acting more like external muscles than an external skeleton. 4, record 6, English, - soft%20exoskeleton

3, record 6, French, - exosquelette%20souple

Nanoscale iron offers distinct advantages over conventional iron for in-situ applications in groundwater because they can be delivered to the subsurface without the need for excavation. This removes limitations due to depth, site structures and facility operations. A nanoscale colloid is small enough to flow through the pore space and associated pore throats of many granular geologic matrixes. The issues governing potential transport are not so much direct filtration, but the effects of gravity and the attractive forces at work on the mineral and colloid surfaces; this also includes agglomeration of the colloids in the injection solution. 2, record 23, English, - nanoscale%20colloid

The Special Purpose Dexterous Manipulator(SPDM) is an essential tool for maintaining and servicing the Space station. With its dual-arm design providing added flexibility, the SPDM will remove and replace smaller components; on the Station exterior, where precise handling : is required. It will be equipped with lights, video equipment, a tool platform and four tool holder. The SPDM can perform dexterous tasks by sensing various forces and moments on the payload. In response, it can automatically compensate its movements to ensure the payload is manipulated smoothly. With its two arms, the SPDM will load and unload objects, use robotic tools, attach and detach covers and install various units of the Space Station. It will either be attached to the end of Canadarm2 or ride independently on the Mobile Base System [MBS] and have Canadarm2 deliver equipment to it for servicing. It also has four cameras that will provide the crew inside the Station with additional views of the work areas. Like Canadarm2 and the MBS, the Special Purpose Dexterous Manipulator will be controlled by the crew inside the International Space Station. This system will allow the crew to perform many of the tasks that would otherwise require an astronaut to perform during a demanding spacewalk. 5, record 43, English, - special%20purpose%20dexterous%20manipulator

5, record 43, French, - manipulateur%20agile%20sp%C3%A9cialis%C3%A9

Tensiometry ...: Two kinds of devices are widely distributed on the French market: ’standard’ tensiometers (porous cup linked to a depression manometer by a tube filled with water); and watermark sensors (electrical measure block buried in the ground and removable meter). Tensiometers measure the soil matric potential (but only below 100 kPa). A little delicate to implement, exacting to pick out (automation is desirable), nevertheless they are a good tool for controlling the irrigations (particularly drip). An abrasive jet uses water that is pressurized up to 40, 000 pounds per square inch(psi) and then forced through a small sapphire orifice at 2500 feet per second, or about two and a half times the speed of sound. Garnet abrasive is then pulled into this high-speed stream of water and mixed with the water in a long ceramic mixing tube. A stream of abrasive laden water moving at 1000 feet per second exits the ceramic tube. This jet of water and abrasive is then directed at the material to be machined. The jet drags the abrasive through the material in a curved path and the resulting centrifugal forces on the particles press them against the work piece. The cutting action is a grinding process where the forces and motions are provided by water, rather than a grinding wheel. 1, record 47, English, - abrasive%20jet

Contact forces between wheels and railway track are calculated using a model in which two masses as wheels in a truck move on a elastically supported beam as rail and Hertz's contact elasticity between wheels and railway track is taken into account. The relative contact position index is proposed and it determines uniquely the ratio of the contact force of the trailing wheel to that of the leading wheel, which can be smaller or larger than unity. The mechanism of the work of the proposed index is discussed using the concept of dynamic absorber. 1, record 52, English, - elastically%20supported%20beam
