FORCING MECHANISM [6 records]

Record 1 2022-04-27

English

Subject field(s)
  • Climate Change
  • Pollutants
CONT

In the Northern Hemisphere, the latitudinal and seasonal patterns of the early twentieth century warming are remarkably similar to the patterns predicted by the equilibrium response general circulation model study of Manabe and Stouffer for a quadrupling of CO2 concentration. If this similarity was a result of early twentieth century CO2 forcing then it may indicate that equilibrium models can give realistic results... If CO2 [is] not the dominant forcing mechanism then this similarity supports the idea that the latitudinal patterns of climatic change are largely independent of the type of forcing.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Changements climatiques
  • Agents de pollution
DEF

Record 2 2020-07-22

English

Subject field(s)
  • Effects of Pollution
  • Climate Change
CONT

A mechanism for the formation of atmospheric aerosols via the gas to particle conversion of highly oxidized organic molecules is found to be the dominant aerosol formation process in the preindustrial boundary layer over land. The inclusion of this process in a global aerosol model raises baseline preindustrial aerosol concentrations and could lead to a reduction of 27% in estimates of anthropogenic aerosol radiative forcing.

Key term(s)
  • manmade aerosol radiative forcing

French

Domaine(s)
  • Effets de la pollution
  • Changements climatiques
CONT

Malgré l'intensification des études sur ce sujet, l'estimation du forçage radiatif des aérosols anthropiques et l'estimation de leur impact sur les variables physiques sont encore très incertaines.

crowd : Outward movement of the dipper handle in relation to the dipper handle axis(shipper shaft pinions) on the boom. The process of forcing a bucket or dipper into the digging or the mechanism which does the forcing. Used chiefly in reference to machines which dig by pushing away from themselves.
