Predictive data is the result of predictive analytics, which is used to make predictions about unknown future events. Nonlinear models differ from linear ones in a number of ways. Rather than trying to figure out all the chains of causality, the modeler looks for nodes where feedback loops join and tries to capture as many of the important loops as possible in the system's "picture". Rather than shaping the model to make a forecast about future events or to exercise some central control, the nonlinear modeler is content to perturb the model, trying out different variables in order to learn about the system's critical point and its homeostasis(resistance to change). The modeler is not seeking to control the complex system by quantifying it and mastering its causality;(s) he wants to increase her "intuitions" about how the system works so(s) he can interact with it more harmoniously. 1, record 3, English, - nonlinear%20model

The regionalized method is used with the goal of better forecasting rare events, since it incorporates observations from many stations into a single data sample. However, regionalized forecasts need to be adjusted for local effects. The single station approach is used to forecast weather elements which are highly dependent on local effects because typical local conditions are built into the relationship for each equation. These issues are discussed in detail by Maglares and Carter(1986). Since local effects are very important factors in determining the occurrence of precipitation in mountainous terrain, the single station approach was used for this project. 1, record 4, English, - regionalized%20forecast

WeatherAlert is an Environment Canada weather message about impending severe weather that scrolls--or crawls--across the bottom of the television screen. Only severe weather events that are not forecast early enough for announcement on regular television broadcasts will trigger WeatherAlert messages. Test messages for WeatherAlert will be issued in the greater Toronto pilot area for these severe weather events : tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, severe winds, blizzards, heavy freezing rain, heavy snow, heavy rain and snow squalls. The Toronto area was chosen for the pilot because of its size, variety of severe weather, population and its concentration of national broadcasters. 1, record 9, English, - WeatherAlert

1, record 9, French, - Alerte%20M%C3%A9t%C3%A9o
