The Atlantic Storm Prediction Centre(ASPC) provides timely and accurate weather forecasts, warnings and information to the residents of Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, and Iles de la Madeleine. The Centre is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to reduce risks to Atlantic Canadians from high-impact weather and other weather related environmental hazards. The Centre is also responsible for an air quality forecast program and the marine and sea state forecasts for the maritime waters out to the 200 mile limit, including most of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. In addition to forecasting, staff is also responsible for the operation of the equipment used to disseminate these forecasts and warnings.

Le Centre de prévision des intempéries de la Région de l'Atlantique (CPIRA) fournit des prévisions météorologiques, des avertissements et des informations exacts et à jour aux résidents de la Nouvelle-Écosse, de l’Île-du-Prince-Édouard, du Nouveau-Brunswick et des Îles-de-la-Madeleine. Le centre est doté de personnel 24 heures sur 24 tous les jours de l’année afin de réduire les risques que les Canadiens de l’Atlantique soient touchés par les phénomènes météorologiques extrêmes et les autres dangers environnementaux reliés au temps. Le centre est par ailleurs responsable d’un programme de prévision de la qualité de l’air et des prévisions maritimes et de l’état de la mer pour les eaux des Maritimes s’étendant jusqu’à la limite des 200 milles, y compris une portion importante du golfe du Saint-Laurent. En plus des prévisions, le personnel est responsable du fonctionnement de l’équipement servant à diffuser les prévisions et les avertissements.
