The reduction of the value of a national currency in terms of the currency of another nation. Devaluation tends to reduce domestic demand for imports in a country by raising their prices in terms of the devalued currency and to raise foreign demand for the country's exports by reducing their prices in terms of foreign currencies. Budget 2007 updated the concept of "prescribed stock exchange, "used for a variety of purposes under the Income Tax Act, in order to make the prescription process more transparent and flexible to meet evolving market needs. In place of the two former lists of prescribed stock exchanges(domestic and foreign), there are now three categories of stock exchange : designated stock exchange, recognized stock exchange and stock exchange.... Under the new system, securities listed on a designated stock exchange are eligible to be held in an RRSP [registered retirement savings plan] and a DPSP [deferred profit-sharing plan]. Designated stock exchanges include all prescribed exchanges as of December 13, 2007, and additional exchanges designated by the Minister of Finance by way of public notice since this date. 1, record 69, English, - designated%20stock%20exchange

1, record 69, French, - bourse%20de%20valeurs%20d%C3%A9sign%C3%A9e

Other pieces of Federal legislation extend similar requirement to third-party purchases that utilize Federal funds, such as highway and transit programs. In certain government procurements, the requirement purchase may be waived if purchasing the material domestically would burden the government with an unreasonable cost(the price differential between the domestic product and an identical foreign-sourced product exceeds a certain percentage of the price offered by the foreign supplier), if the product is not available domestically in sufficient quantity or quality, or if doing so is in the public interest. 1, record 75, French, - loi%20Achetez%20am%C3%A9ricain

Typically, there are agreed exceptions to the obligations. FIPAs seek to ensure that foreign investors will not be treated worse than similarly situated domestic investors or other foreign investors; they will not have their investments expropriated without prompt and adequate compensation; and, in any case, they will not be subject to treatment lower than the minimum standard established in customary international law. The Marshall Plan, known officially following its enactment as the European Recovery Program(ERP), was the primary plan of the United States to promote the recovery of Europe and to advance American foreign and domestic economic policies after World War II. The initiative was named for United States Secretary of State George Marshall and was largely the creation of State Department officials, especially William L. Clayton and George F. Kennan. The reconstruction plan was developed at a meeting of the participating European States in July 1947. The Soviet Union and the states of Eastern Europe were invited, but Stalin saw the plan as a threat and did not allow the participation of any countries under Soviet control. The plan was in operation for four fiscal years beginning in July 1947. 4, record 84, English, - European%20Recovery%20Program
