A special account established in the name of the Minister of Finance to aid in the control and protection of the external value of the [Canadian dollar].

CONT

The Exchange Fund Account(EFA), managed by the Minister of Finance on behalf of the Government of Canada, represents the largest component of Canada's official international reserves. It is a portfolio of Canada's liquid foreign exchange reserves and special drawing rights available to aid in the control and protection of the external value of the Canadian dollar and as a source of liquidity to the government, if needed.
