Reeds are usually divided into two kinds, the beating, and the free reed.... Both forms possess the elastic tongue; but the beating reed differs from the free reed in that the tongue is made to cover the orifice through which the air passes and slightly to overlap its edges; whereas in the latter it passes freely, as the name implies, though with but little room to spare, past the edges of the slit in which it is adapted.... The beating reed is farther subdivided into single and double varieties, the former represented by the clarinet, and by the usual organ reeds; the latter appearing in the oboe and bassoon. 3, record 3, English, - beating%20reed

11, record 4, French, - lib%C3%A9ro

A pipeline operated at varying temperatures due to occasional shut down of theproduction will expand at positive temperature changes. If the pipeline is not free toexpand but restrained by friction, the pipe will be subjected to an axial compressive load. If the force exerted by the pipe on the soil cover exceeds the vertical restraint created by the pipe's submerged weight, its bending stiffness and the soil cover, the pipe will tend to move in the vertical plane, and considerable displacements may occur.... "Glide avalanches" occur when the entire snowpack(from ground to surface) slides slowly downslope. A large crack(called a "glide crack") is formed at the top of the slope, and below this crack is where the snow is slipping down the hill. The rate of glide is variable and based on many factors(not well understood). The two biggest influences are the ground cover(smooth grass and rock slab cause glide) as well as the amount of free water at the base of the snowpack which can lubricate the sliding surface. Often these glide slabs will slip downhill for months, or most of the winter. They are very unpredictable and when they decide to release then we generally get a very large avalanche because the entire snowpack depth to the ground slides. When the glide slab finally releases-that is a "glide avalanche. "[Reference : Grant Statham, Avalanche Specialist, Parks Canada. ] 4, record 9, English, - glide%20avalanche
