1, record 10, French, - Lignes%20directrices%20de%20l%27OCDE%20sur%20la%20protection%20de%20la%20vie%20priv%C3%A9e%20et%20les%20flux%20transfronti%C3%A8res%20de%20donn%C3%A9es%20de%20caract%C3%A8re%20personnel

In the period 1979-1985, the petroleum industry provides a unique test of the agency theory of corporate restructuring. Background material is provided on the industry's corporate restructuring, along with an elaboration of the free cash flow hypothesis that underlies the agency theory.... Record number: 31, Textual support number: 1 OBS
A deep, narrow, and swift current, it continues from the Philippines Current in a northeastward direction from Taiwan along the continental rise of the East China Sea, through Tokara Strait, and close to the eastern coast of Japan. At 35°N it separates from the coast and flows eastward into the Pacific as a free jet known as the Kuroshio Extension. It forms a marked temperature and salinity front with the Oyashio, which meets the Kuroshio Extension from the north and then flows parallel to it. Like all other western boundary currents, the Kuroshio develops instabilities and sheds eddies. Its unique characteristic is that south of Honshu it switches between three quasi-stable paths across the Izu Ridge at irregular intervals of 18 months to several years. Volume transport in the Kuroshio increases downstream and reaches 57 Sv... in the Kuroshio Extension, increasing seasonally by 15% during summer. The current's path in the extension is characterized by large meridional excursions in the so-called First and Second Crest at 145° and 152°E. On approaching the Shatsky Rise at 157°E, the Kuroshio Extension divides into several paths that tend to recombine before the Emperor Seamounts near 170°E cause the current to split again and disintegrate. The flow then continues as the North Pacific Current. 4, record 31, English, - Kuroshio

Efforts to enhance marine security must be balanced with the need to maintain the free flow of trade and people, which in turn maintains the competitiveness of Canada's marine sector and our economic vitality. Enhancing security has many benefits, especially in combating organized crime, enhancing search and rescue capabilities, conserving our fisheries and combating marine pollution. Perhaps most importantly, it also improves the ability to prevent terrorists or terrorist devices from entering Canada or accessing our marine transportation system. 2, record 37, English, - marine%20security

1, record 37, French, - s%C3%BBret%C3%A9%20maritime

The movement of a free electron from atom to atom leaves a hole in the atom it left. This hole is quickly filled by another free electron. As this movement is transmitted throughout the conductor, an electric current is created from the negative to the positive. At the same time, the "hole" has been moved backward in the conductor as one free electron after another takes its place in a sort of chain reaction. "Hole flow" is from positive to negative. Current flow in a transistor, then, may be either electron movement or hole flow, depending on the type of material, and this determines the type of transistor it is as well. 2, record 42, English, - hole%20flow

The incumbent will develop numerical and computational models simulating the interaction of waves and currents in the wave basin and in real environments in order to predict effects on offshore structures. Emphasis is on the interaction of current-free monochromatic surface wave fields with uniform current fields in a three-dimensional flow frame. [...] Specifically this will require numerical analysis knowledge to develop the computational formulations of the problem, to discretize these formulations, to write the algorithms and the relevant Matlab codes and to perform the required validation tests and simulations of the resulting solutions. In addition, a robust knowledge of the relatively new field of waveform relaxation and related methods will be essential, as well as extensive practical knowledge of Matlab and Maple programming environments. Flotation Clarifiers. Dissolved air flotation is a solids-removal process where fine air bubbles become attached to the suspended particles, thus reducing the density of individual particles and causing them to float to the surface. The separated solids then form a floating layer that is a mixture of solids and air bubbles. The buoyant force exerted by the entrapped air also acts to compact the solids into a smaller volume before the floating layer is skimmed off.... A flotation clarifier of recent design is illustrated in Figure 26-7. This unit features a deep, baffled flow shaft for the wastewater. Air is injected on the downcomer side at the bottom of the shaft where a portion is dissolved by hydrostatic pressure. Undissolved air rises against the downward flow, contributing to water saturation. Rising water on the other side of the shaft is thereby saturated with air, but free of undissolved air bubbles. As hydrostatic pressure declines, microscopic bubbles are released from solution and become attached to the suspended solids. 1, record 56, English, - flotation%20clarifier

1, record 56, French, - clarificateur%20par%20flottation

Oil furnaces. Indoor oil furnaces... are available in upflow, downflow, horizontal and low-boy configurations for ducted systems. They are also available as floor furnaces, wall furnaces, and free standing space heaters. Oil-fired outdoor furnaces and combination units are rare.... The ducted system, oil-fired, forced air furnaces are usually equipped with pressure-atomizing burners. The pump pressure and the orifice size of the injection nozzle regulate the firing rate of the furnace. Electric ignition is used to ignite the burners.... The combustion chamber and heat exchanger of oil-fired furnaces are normally formed as a common single chamber. It is formed from heavy gage steel into a welded assembly. The hot flue products flow through the inside of the heat exchanger into the chimney. The conditioned air flows over the outside of the heat exchanger and into the air supply plenum. 1, record 68, English, - oil%20furnace
