FREE FREE EMISSION [7 records]

DEF

... the emission of electrons from the surface of a conductor under the influence of a strong electric field as a result of the tunnel effect.

CONT

Electric field electron emission is the process by which free electrons are emitted from the metal surface when strong electric field is applied. Electric field electron emission is also called as electron field emission, field electron emission and field emission. Electric field electron emission occurs not only in metals, but also in liquids. Field electron emission occurs in metals that are placed at very strong electric field. In other words, field electron emission occurs when large amount of energy in the form of electric field is applied to the free electrons in the metals.

CONT

CONT

Infrared emission spectroscopy is characteristic in that the emission is isotropic and is hardly influenced by the surface profile of the base material. Therefore, as long as a base, free of the organic matter to be analyzed, is available, it is possible to obtain an infrared emission spectrum from the contrast between the sample and the base material.

CONT

Contrary to standard e-beams, this beam is free from spacecraft charging and plasma interaction problems; also, its energy flux is weak but varies across the cross section, which is large, making possible continuous observation from the spacecraft with high resolution of induced emissions. Line of sight sweeps would provide a brightness scan of line-integrated emission.

DEF

The radiation emitted by a plasma after the power which maintains it is cut off. When the plasma has become sufficiently cool, the free electrons recombine with the ions, resulting in the emission of recombination radiation. [Definition standardized by ISO. ]

DEF

Subject field(s)
  • Energy (Physics)
DEF

Energy(or work) required to withdraw an electron completely from a metal surface. This energy is a mesure of how tightly a particular metal holds its electrons--that is, of how much lower the electron's energy is when present within the metal than when completely free. The work function is important in applications involving electron emission from metals, as in photocells(electric eyes) and vacuum tubes.

In emission trading, emitters acquire emission allowances as private assets that can be sold for money. If the allowances are granted free rather than auctioned, emission trading could indeed create windfall profits by converting public resources into transferable private assets.

Si les contingents sont distribués sans frais plutôt que d'être vendus aux enchères, l'échange de droits d'émissions pourrait certes constituer une véritable aubaine.
