Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 DEF
A comparatively small vessel with powerful engines and constructed in such a way as to be able to manoeuvre easily for towage and/or to assist in salvage operations at sea. 5, record 1, English, - tugboat
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Tugboats are needed to pull or push large ships in confined waters such as in a harbor area and docks, and they are also needed to tow large ships on long ocean voyages.... They are capable of firefighting and salvage duties and may carry large capacity pumps for these purposes. One important design characteristic of a tugboat is its hull form and propulsion system are designed both for a given free running speed and a high thrust at zero speed. Furthermore, its upper deck layout is dictated by the need to get close into a variety of vessels and by the need to keep the towing point above the longitudinal center of lateral pressure so that a lateral pull has a minimum effect on maneuverability. 6, record 1, English, - tugboat

The nanomotor has a positioning stroke up to some centimeters while operating with atomic resolution and thus builds a bridge over eight orders of magnitude. The nanomotor is a piezo driven linear motor consisting of a cylindrical housing and a slider with a free axial hole inside. It utilizes a piezo tube for fine positioning and a pulse wave produced by the same piezo tube for coarse movements. Every point of its stroke can be reached with a speed of up to 5 mm/s. In its free axial hole the nanomotor can transport a tip, a hose, an electrode, a hypodermic needle, a glass fiber or even a microgripper. The nanomotor is available in three different versions. The "small" nanomotor is half the size of a match stick. It can lift six times of its own mass. The dynamic force of this nanomotor is so high, that even imprints in diamond surfaces can be produced. Special versions of the nanomotor can operate in ultra high vacuum, in liquid helium, even under water or as non-magnetic drives. 3, record 9, English, - nanomotor

The most common type of CVT employs a steel belt and two pulleys. Rather than step among four or five gears of different sizes, the CVT varies the effective diameter of the drive pulley and driven pulley to create a broad range of drive ratios free of the shift feel of conventional transmissions. Imagine riding a bike on which the sprocket and rear gear magically change size without requiring the chain to jump from one gear to another, and you have the basic idea. By increasing or decreasing the space between the pulleys’ respective halves, the CVT varies the effective diameter of the conical inner surfaces on which the belt rides. It varies these parameters at any time, at any engine or vehicle speed. 4, record 10, English, - continuously%20variable%20transmission

The observer selects a recognizable feature of the cloud base, and then rotates the comb of the nephoscope until that feature appears to move along the longitudinal member of the comb.... By using the "teeth" of the comb, and a timepiece, the observer may time the motion of the cloud. Shake, Rattle & Roll Poster. Shake :... The International Space Station undergoes oscillations. If it is given a slight push, such as a bump from the Shuttle while undergoing a docking procedure, the ISS [International Space Station] vibrates with a to-and-fro shaking motion. Student Activity : Docking the Shuttle to an oscillating Space Station is a bit like trying to toss a ball into a swaying bucket from a distance. The trajectory of the ball must be perfect(the launch speed, angle and direction) and synchronized exactly with the motion of the oscillating bucket. Try it. Student Challenge : Clamp one end of a 30 cm steel ruler to the edge of a table so that it sticks straight out. Bend the free end of the ruler downward a few centimetres and release it. Observe what happens. Attach a heavy mass(approximately 200 grams), such as a large blob of putty or Plasticine, to the free end of the ruler. Again, depress the free end of the ruler a few centimetres and release it. Observe what happens. Try doubling the mass or changing the length of the free part of the ruler. Observe what happens to the motion of the ruler as the mass or length changes. Design an experiment to quantitatively measure the effect you have observed. Relate your findings to the oscillating behaviour of the International Space Station as it grows in mass and length. 1, record 19, English, - shake

Affiche «Rock'n'roll spatial». Vibrations : [...] Gyroscopic pendulum. Free pendulum. The gyro spinning wheel is running at constant speed. The precession drive, which lies in a plane symmetric with respect to the gimbal is not controlled. When the gimbal becomes free, the gravity torque drives it around the horizontal axis, perpendicular to the symmetry plane, until it falls on the top. This rate of rotation of the gimbal creates a gyroscopic torque that makes the spinner rotate around the precession axis in spite of the friction due to the gear of the precession drive. 1, record 22, English, - gear%20of%20the%20precession%20drive

Pendule gyroscopique. Pendule libre.

2, record 23, French, - moteur%20de%20pr%C3%A9cession

We present a noise free and deterministic dynamic model to study the dynamics of the contact line of an adhesive tape during peeling process. The adhesive tape is wrapped around a disk and is pulled with a constant speed at a fixed distance. In a narrow range of the pull speed, the angular speed of the contact line exhibits stick-slip behaviors with irregular bifurcations, which is then followed by the appearance of a period one stick-slip motion before displaying chaotic behaviors with distinctively positive Liapunov exponents. 1, record 29, English, - contact%20line
