Diving Apparatus. Any equipment to enable a person to spend time underwater. Diving bells were in regular use in the 17th century, the diver breathing air trapped in a bell-shaped chamber. This was followed by cumbersome diving suits in the early 19th century. Complete freedom of movement came with the aqualung, invented by Jacques-Yves Cousteau in the early 1940s. For work at greater depths the technique of saturation diving was developed in the 1970s in which divers live for a week or more breathing a mixture of helium and oxygen at the pressure existing on the seabed where they work(as in work on North Sea platforms and tunnel building). 3, record 3, English, - diving%20apparatus

Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 CONT

Foods described using the term ’organic' or its derivatives are a product of ’organic farming’... ’Organic livestock’ is raised under conditions of minimal stress, including reasonable freedom of movement, lack of crowding and access to sunshine, fresh air and water. All grains, forages and protein supplements fed to the animals must be ’organically’ grown. Animal health must be maintained without the use of antibiotics, synthetic growth promoters, hormones or similar products. Slaughtering and processing must be done under humane and sanitary conditions. [Harrosmith, 1989, no 86, p. 39]. 2, record 18, English, - organic%20meat
