A snake robot is a robotic mechanism designed to move like a biological snake. Inspired by the robustness and stability of biological snake locomotion, snake robots carry the potential of meeting the growing need for robotic mobility in unknown and challenging environments. These mechanisms typically consist of many serially connected joint modules capable of bending in one or more planes. The many degrees of freedom of snake robots make them difficult to control but provide potential locomotion skills in cluttered and irregular environments which surpass the mobility of more conventional wheeled, tracked, and legged robots. 3, record 1, English, - snake%20robot

Internal frames are usually parallel aluminium staves in channels on the back of the pack. These are thinner and more flexible than frame staves found on external frames, and are usually either independent or only attached to one another at the top, so they flex and move with the wearer far more than is generally the case with external frames. This leads to greater freedom of movement, and also means that the pack body is closer in to the wearer's back, enabling the centre of mass to be held closer to the wearer's own. This isn’t as comfortable standing around as a high load, but it's a lot easier to balance it, especially off the trail in rougher stuff. 2, record 4, English, - internal%20frame

Bench-mounted assembly robots that have a gantry design are not included in this definition. A gantry robot can move along its x and y axes traveling over relatively greater distances than a pedestal-mounted robot at high traverse speeds while still providing a high degree of accuracy for positioning. Features of a gantry robot include large work envelopes, heavy payloads, mobile overhead mounting, and the capability and flexibility to operate over the work area of several pedestal-mounted robots. 1, record 6, English, - gantry%20robot

Fluorescence polarization. If polarized light is directed at a fluorescent molecule it is absorbed and emitted shortly afterwards, during which time the molecules move at random so that the fluorescent emission shows reduced polarization. If, however, the fluorescent molecule is bound to an antibody it has less rotational freedom and the polarization of the emission will be retained to a greater degree. 1, record 9, English, - fluorescence%20polarization

1, record 9, French, - polarisation%20de%20fluorescence
