The alternative to placing solar cells on the outside of the textile is integrating the cells within two textile layers or underneath the top layer and fixing it in place. By doing so, the solar cells are protected from external factors at the cost of lower performance due to the reduced amount of light reaching them. The textile can then be freely designed to ensure aesthetic appeal by concealing the solar cells [...] This approach is technically easier than integrating solar cells in textiles in the form of photovoltaic fibres or yarns or depositing them onto fabrics as thin layer films [...] 1, record 7, English, - photovoltaic%20fibre

The shawm is a double reed instrument with a conical bore and is the predecessor of the modern oboe.... In Europe the shawm was used extensively during the 14th to the 17th centuries, mainly for playing outdoors at ceremonial occasions.... The reed is not held between the lips as with the oboe but is set in a type of holder known as a pirouette. The lips are pressed against the flat face of the pirouette, allowing the reed to vibrate freely in the mouth. This gives a sound more powerful than that of the oboe, but the player lacks the degree of control provided by lip pressure on the reed. 3, record 11, English, - shawm

Connectivity conservation is a community-led approach to conservation that brings people together to reverse the impacts of habitat loss, fragmentation and degradation by reconnecting our natural world. Research clearly shows that the conventional approach of prioritising the conservation of isolated patches of habitat in national parks is insufficient by itself to ensure the long-term survival and adaptability of our wildlife and the resilience and integrity of our ecosystems – connectivity(the degree to which landscapes and seascapes allow species to move freely and ecological processes to function unimpeded) is crucial for our survival. 2, record 14, English, - connectivity%20conservation

Reeds are usually divided into two kinds, the beating, and the free reed.... Both forms possess the elastic tongue; but the beating reed differs from the free reed in that the tongue is made to cover the orifice through which the air passes and slightly to overlap its edges; whereas in the latter it passes freely, as the name implies, though with but little room to spare, past the edges of the slit in which it is adapted.... The beating reed is farther subdivided into single and double varieties, the former represented by the clarinet, and by the usual organ reeds; the latter appearing in the oboe and bassoon. 3, record 28, English, - beating%20reed

Matter in the known universe can be classified in terms of four states: solid, liquid, gaseous, and plasma. ... the transition from a gas to an ionized gas, i.e., plasma, is not a phase transition, since it occurs gradually with increasing temperature. During the process, a molecular gas dissociates first into an atomic gas which, with increasing temperature, is ionized as the collisions between atoms are able to free the outermost orbital electrons. Resulting plasma consists of a mixture of neutral particles, positive ions (atoms or molecules that have lost one or more electrons), and negative electrons. À ces températures, les atomes neutres - c'est-à-dire ceux formés d'autant d'électrons (négatifs) que d'ions (positifs) - perdent leurs électrons. Aquatic weeds can be grouped by the following categories : algae, and emersed, floating, submersed and marginal(shoreline) weeds. Algae are green, stringy mats, sometimes called "pond scum". Algae are primitive plants without leaves, stems or roots. Emersed aquatic weeds generally are rooted in the soil, with part of the plant growing above the water surface.... Floating aquatic weeds are seed-bearing plants that float freely on the surface of the water or have leaves that float on the surface, connected by long stems to roots in the lake bottom. Submersed aquatic weeds are rooted in the soil and the entire plant is under the surface of the water. Some submersed aquatic weeds have flowers that emerge above the water surface. Marginal aquatic weeds can be herbaceous or woody and grow around the margins of the water. Marginal aquatic weeds may grow either in the shallow water or along the banks of the shoreline. 3, record 68, English, - aquatic%20weed

3, record 68, French, - mauvaise%20herbe%20aquatique

A plastic foam material consists of a gas phase dispersed in a solid plastic phase and derives its properties from both. The solid plastic component forms the matrix. Un plastique alvéolaire consiste en une phase gazeuse dispersée dans une phase solide en plastique; il tire ses propriétés des deux phases. L'élément plastique solide constitue la matrice. The sonde is designed to lie exactly parallel to the axis of the borehole. When a reading is required at a particular depth, the camera is electrically operated from the surface and takes a photograph of the bowl. The steel ball has rolled to the lowest point and so marks the amount of deviation. [...] 3, record 89, French, - Standard%20Penetration%20Test
