The Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen(French : La Déclaration des droits de l'homme et du citoyen) is one of the fundamental documents of the French Revolution, defining a set of individual rights and collective rights of all of the estates as one. Influenced by the doctrine of natural rights, these rights are universal : they are supposed to be valid in all times and places, pertaining to human nature itself. The last article of the Declaration was adopted on 26 August 1789, by the National Constituent Assembly(Assemblée nationale constituante), as the first step toward writing a constitution. While it set forth fundamental rights, not only for French citizens but for all men without exception, it did not make any statement about the status of women, nor did it explicitly address slavery. 1, record 4, English, - Declaration%20of%20the%20Rights%20of%20Man%20and%20of%20the%20Citizen

1, record 4, French, - D%C3%A9claration%20des%20droits%20de%20l%27homme%20et%20du%20citoyen

Paris(1783), Treaty of, concluded the American Revolution. On 20 Sept. 1783 Britain acknowledged American independence and recognized a boundary along the centre of the 4 northerly Great Lakes and from Lake of the Woods "due west" to the imagined location of the Mississippi's headwaters, then South along the Mississippi River. This gave the US Niagara, Detroit and Michilimackinac, the valuable lands reserved to Indians by the Royal Proclamation of 1763. The Americans, negotiating through the French comte de Vergennes, obtained fishing rights off Newfoundland and access to the East banks of the Mississippi; in turn they promised restitution and compensation to British Loyalists. 1, record 6, English, - Treaty%20of%20Paris

1, record 6, French, - Trait%C3%A9%20de%20Paris

The War of the Grand Alliance, also known as the War of the League of Augsburg, the Nine Years War, the Orleans War, the War of the Palatinian Succession, and the War of the English Succession, was a major war fought in Europe and Colonial America from 1688 to 1697, between France and the League of Augsburg-which, by 1689, was known as the "Grand Alliance" when England and others joined. The war was fought to resit French expansionism along the Rhine, as well as, on the part of England, to safeguard the results of the Glorious Revolution from a possible French-backed restoration of James II of England. 1, record 7, English, - War%20of%20the%20Grand%20Alliance

1, record 8, French, - f%C3%AAte%20de%20la%20F%C3%A9d%C3%A9ration
