FREQUENCY DISCRIMINATOR [4 records]

Record 1 2014-01-09

English

Subject field(s)
  • Radio Transmission and Reception
  • Telecommunications Facilities
CONT

Demodulation of [a] signal requires a system that produces an output proportional to the instantaneous frequency deviation of the input signal. Such a system is called a frequency discriminator.

English

Subject field(s)
  • Corporate Security
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Security Devices
CONT

Three techniques used for reducing nuisance alarms from natural or man-made seismic energy are discriminator sensors, dual channel signal processing, and bandpass frequency selection.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Sécurité générale de l'entreprise
  • Électrotechnique
  • Dispositifs de sécurité
OBS

Record 4 1991-12-02

English

Subject field(s)
  • Television (Radioelectricity)
DEF

A type of frequency discriminator that converts a frequency-modulated signal into an audio signal. It requires a limiter to prevent random amplitude variations of the FM signal from appearing in its output.

CONT

An improved demodulator, known as a phase-shift or Foster-Seely discriminator... is sensitive to amplitude variations, or modulation, as well as to frequency modulation.... Therefore, a limiter should always precede the discriminator. The limiter removes amplitude variations from the FM signal.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Télévision (Radioélectricité)
CONT
