polarization of a propagating wave is determined by the locus or path described by the electric field vector with respect to time 1, record 3, English, - polarization%20summary
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 OBS
Polarization is a term that often arises in the literature and when considering radio frequency communication and RFID. If we ascribe an x, y, z co-ordinate system to a propagating wave as illustrated below, with the direction of propagation being in the z direction, the electric field vector E will be in the x, y plane. If E remains in the same orientation with respect to time, so that its locus describes a straight line, the wave is said to be linearly polarized. However, if the locus describes a circular motion with respect to time the wave is said to be circularly polarized. Where the locus describes an elliptical path, the wave is said to be elliptically polarized. 1, record 3, English, - polarization%20summary
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 2 OBS
Circular polarization is often used in communication systems since the orientation of the transmitting and receiving antenna is less important than it is with linearly polarized waves. The magnetic vector, H, always remains perpendicular to the E vector. Using an IEEE convention, a clockwise circular rotating wavefront approaching a receiver is defined as being left-hand circular (LHC) polarized. The power in the wavefront is expressed in the form of the Poynting vector, P: P = (E x H) = E x H sin ..., where ... is the phase angle between E and H. 1, record 3, English, - polarization%20summary

A rotating field transformer comprises a torque motor and a rotating electric machine having two sets of windings, each of the windings connected to a respective polyphase electric circuit. The two windings have the same number of magnetic poles and generate coincident rotating magnetic fields having the same direction of rotation.... The rotating field transformer can be used to control the frequency at which power is supplied to a polyphase load, or to manage instabilities in weak links between generating stations. 2, record 4, English, - rotating%20field%20transformer

Stimulated Raman effect. The mechanism of the stimulated Raman effect depends on the coherent pumping of the molecules of the sample into an excited vibrational plate by the powerful electric field of the laser beam.... In addition to its high intensity and its coherence, there are other new features of stimulated Raman scattering.... the stimulated Raman effect usually contains only one frequency.... which is the laser frequency minus exactly twice the frequency of vibrational mode that is being scattered.... Another striking and unusual effect in stimulated Raman scattering is the excitation of intense anti-Stokes radiation. 1, record 6, English, - stimulated%20Raman%20effect
