The principal advantage of pulsed Doppler is range resolution, or the ability to sample blood flow in a small, specific area whose location and depth can be varied. A disadvantage of pulsed Doppler, however, is that there are limits to the maximum frequency shifts that can be unambiguously displayed at any given depth. To avoid range ambiguity, the ultrasound pulse must travel down to the selected depth and back before the next pulse can enter the heart. Therefore, the PRF [pulse repetition frequency] or sampling rate is limited at each depth. 4, record 5, English, - pulsed%20Doppler%20ultrasonography

The Doppler effect on sound waves is experienced in everyday life. When an ambulance passes us, the siren appears to change its note. As it approaches, the pitch is high. As it passes us, the pitch falls. The effect occurs with any type of waves, including light. In the case of sound the effect was described by Christian Andreas Doppler (1803-1853), while for the light it was observed by Armand Fizeau (1819-1896). That’s why sometimes the effect is called the Doppler-Fizeau effect. 5, record 12, English, - Doppler%20effect

Effet Doppler.

Fetal heart detectors are devices that use ultrasonic waves to provide audible and/or visual information. They consist of an ultrasound-frequency electrical generator and appropriate ultrasound transducers housed in a probe that is placed on the maternal abdomen. Ultrasonic heartbeat detectors amplify the audible frequency shift signal of the returned ultrasonic waves and deliver it to speakers or headphones; the heart rate is determined either by measuring the timing of the peaks in the Doppler signal or, more accurately, by using automated autocorrelation procedures. 1, record 13, English, - ultrasonic%20fetal%20heart%20detector

This article briefly describes the PRRS(porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome), which arose in the winter of 1990 in Germany and other European countries... The clinical picture of this new disease, which led to important economical losses is dominated by 1. an increased rate of reduced length of pregnancy with late abortion before day 110 or an increased length of pregnancy; 2. an increase in stillborn piglets; 3. a larger scale of preweaning mortality combined with a higher frequency of secondary infections... Pathological findings in piglets are subcutaneous edema, accumulation of fluids in the body cavities and sometimes interstitial pneumonia is observed... At present a non-classified virus, isolated by Dutch researchers is proposed to be the causative agent and named Lelystad virus. 4, record 18, English, - porcine%20reproductive%20and%20respiratory%20syndrome

An important aspect of the wave nature of light is frequency. The frequency of a wave is its rate of oscillation and is measured in hertz, the SI unit of frequency, equal to one oscillation per second. Light usually comprises a spectrum of frequencies which sum to form the resultant wave. In addition, frequency affects properties like refraction, in which different frequencies undergo a different level of refraction. 2, record 35, English, - frequency

British made Search And Rescue And Homing(SARAH) beacon SRI 23006 was a UHF rescue beacon comprising speech unit, transmitter/receiver unit, coding unit and combined LT/HT battery. The first three units are permanently interconnected. Attached to the transmitter/receiver unit is a leaf spring aerial which fold up to very small dimensions. The SARAH beacon has three modes of operation. In the normal beacon condition pulses on a frequency of 243 MHz are being automatically transmitted. The pulses are transmitted in a rate of 210 pairs per second, the spacing between the pulses in each pair is determined by the coding unit and is a distinguishing feature between the beacons.(Note that the normal beacon operation has much in common with the war-time developed "Walter" beacon). The peak power in this mode is 15 watts and the battery life is about 20 hours continuous operation. 1, record 42, English, - search%20and%20rescue%20and%20homing%20beacon

In its simplest form, the ring laser gyro (RLG) consists of a triangular block of glass drilled out for 3 helium-neon laser bores with mirrors at the 120 degree points - the corners. Counter-rotating laser beams - one clockwise (CW) and the other counter-clockwise (CCW) coexist in this resonator. At some point, a photosensor monitors the beams where they intersect. 5, record 48, English, - counter%2Drotating%20laser%20beam

When the RLG [ring laser gyro] is rotating, the path length around the loop is actually different depending if you measure it clockwise or counter-clockwise.

1, record 50, French, - indice%20de%20r%C3%A9fraction%20du%20milieu

This section will consider the significance of these levels of chemical alterations, with emphasis on the levels of atmospheric input which can be viewed as having "no effect" on the most sensitive headwater streams and lakes. Evaluation of a "no effect loading threshold", or "sustainable loading" rate, which may yield moderate, but "acceptable effects", requires consideration not only of means pH trends, but also of the frequency and severity of brief periods during which much of the response to the loading dose may be expressed. 1, record 75, English, - sustainable%20loading%20rate
