Among many instruments to assess anxiety, one stands out : the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory(STAI, Spielberger, 1983). This does not mean that it is an ideal measure but it is the most frequently used scale in research world-wide, and no other measure has received as many foreign language adaptations and citations in the last three decades. Thus, it is the standard in the field. The self-report inventory consists of 20 items to assess state anxiety, and another 20 items to assess trait anxiety. These two parts differ in the item wording, in the response format(intensity vs. frequency), and in the instructions for how to respond. 3, record 2, English, - Spielberger%20State%2DTrait%20Anxiety%20Inventory

We present the modification of two ESA [European Space Agency] ground stations carried out in order to support the in-flight RF [Radio Frequency] validation of the Proximity Communication Equipment(PCE), part of the International Space Station(ISS). This subsystem plays a critical role during the docking of the Automated Transfer Vehicle(ATV), and has to be tested prior to each ATV launch, to ensure that the RF performance is as expected. For the check-out, an unmodulated signal is transmitted by the PCE during an ISS pass, and received by the two ground stations. Based on the strength of the received signal, the radiation characteristic of the complete PCE can be assessed, and compared with the nominal performance. The measurement process requires calibrating the receiving subsystem, including antenna, front-end and back-end equipment. The adopted calibration procedure, only relying on radio stars measurement, does not require the use of a calibrated source external to the ground station. 3, record 3, English, - proximity%20communication%20equipment

3, record 3, French, - syst%C3%A8me%20de%20communication%20PCE

New methods of acoustic imaging are presented that provide images with reduced reverberation noise and images of nonlinear scattering and propagation parameters of the object, and estimation methods of corrections for wave front aberrations produced by spatial variations in the acoustic propagation velocity. The methods find use in a variety of applications such as acoustic imaging of geological structures, SONAR imaging of sub-sea objects, and medical ultrasound imaging. The methods are based on processing of the received signal from transmitted dual frequency band acoustic pulse complexes with overlapping high and low frequency pulses. The high frequency pulse is used for the image reconstruction and the low frequency pulse is used to manipulate the nonlinear scattering and/or propagation properties of the high frequency pulse. 3, record 5, English, - acoustic%20imaging

Pulse Compression. In collecting the SAR data, a long-duration linear FM [frequency modulation] pulse is transmitted. This allows the pulse energy to be transmitted with a lower peak power. The linear FM pulse has the property that, when filtered with a matched filter, the result is a narrow pulse in which all the pulse energy has been collected to the peak value. Thus, when a matched filter is applied to the received echo, it is as if a narrow pulse were transmitted, with its corresponding range resolution and signal-to-noise ratio. 3, record 10, English, - pulse%20compression

2, record 10, French, - compression%20d%27impulsion

The Patriot multi-function phased-array radar is housed in an air-conditioned, electrically screened, unmanned shelter mounted on an M860 semi-trailed towed by a tractor.... Returning r. f. energy is focused by the antenna lens on to the receiver horn in the comparator. The comparator forms sum and difference signals for the individual monopulse reception channels, the sum, azimuth-difference and elevation-difference signals being routed to the receiver input. After frequency conversion and filtering, the received energy is fed via flexible shielded cable as an intermediate-frequency signal to the receiver group inside the shelter. 1, record 17, English, - azimuth%2Ddifference%20signal
