The process of telemetry involves the transmission of data from a source to a receiver typically by radio frequency electromagnetic means. Telemetry has been successfully used in biomedical applications to permit the remote monitoring of patients. An example of a useful signal to be remotely monitored is the electrocardiogram(ECG). A transmitter attached to a patient sends an ECG signal to a remote receiver where it is decoded and monitored. Such biomedical telemetry permits the patient greater mobility than if he were attached to a stationary monitor, thus enhancing the therapeutic benefits from patient mobility. 1, record 1, English, - biomedical%20telemetry

We present the modification of two ESA [European Space Agency] ground stations carried out in order to support the in-flight RF [Radio Frequency] validation of the Proximity Communication Equipment(PCE), part of the International Space Station(ISS). This subsystem plays a critical role during the docking of the Automated Transfer Vehicle(ATV), and has to be tested prior to each ATV launch, to ensure that the RF performance is as expected. For the check-out, an unmodulated signal is transmitted by the PCE during an ISS pass, and received by the two ground stations. Based on the strength of the received signal, the radiation characteristic of the complete PCE can be assessed, and compared with the nominal performance. The measurement process requires calibrating the receiving subsystem, including antenna, front-end and back-end equipment. The adopted calibration procedure, only relying on radio stars measurement, does not require the use of a calibrated source external to the ground station. 3, record 7, English, - proximity%20communication%20equipment

3, record 7, French, - syst%C3%A8me%20de%20communication%20PCE

Traditional Passive RFID [radio frequency identification] Tags rely on gathering energy from the RFID Reader's signal to wake up the integrated circuit(IC) and provide the backscatter required for identification. BAP RFID tags contain their own integrated power source, which is most commonly a battery. It's very important not to confuse BAP tags with Active RFID Tags. Active tags transmit a beacon at a defined interval. BAP tags do not transmit. The range is improved because no energy needs to be harvested from the RFID Reader to power the integrated circuit and all of the captured energy can be used for backscatter. 3, record 9, English, - battery%2Dassisted%20passive%20tag

The Doppler effect on sound waves is experienced in everyday life. When an ambulance passes us, the siren appears to change its note. As it approaches, the pitch is high. As it passes us, the pitch falls. The effect occurs with any type of waves, including light. In the case of sound the effect was described by Christian Andreas Doppler (1803-1853), while for the light it was observed by Armand Fizeau (1819-1896). He proved that when a celestial object was moving away from Earth the lines of the spectrum [lower observed frequency] seen through a spectroscope would move towards the red end, and when the object was moving towards the Earth the lines of the spectrum [higher observed frequency] would move towards the blue end. 7, record 11, English, - Doppler%20effect

Effet Doppler.

One can think of a critical band as a frequency selective "channel" of psychoacoustic processing; only noise falling within the critical bandwidth can contribute to the masking of a narrow band signal. The single-axis inertial platform... The angular motions of the controlled member are sensed by the single-axis gyro. The output signal of the gyro is electronically processed and fed to the torque motor (TM) of the stable element and to the torque generator (TG) of the gyro. The problem is to determine how to do the electronic processing so that the controlled member maintains its orientation in spite of disturbances. The voltage across the output signal generator (SG) of the gyroscope is proportional to the integral of the angular velocity of the controlled member about the gyroscope’s input axis. Consequently, this signal is fed to an amplifier and then to a motor, which drives the controlled member in the proper direction to null the ouptut of the gyroscope. 1, record 20, English, - output%20signal%20generator

Hyper-Raman effect. The nature of this effect is most easily described in terms of the corpuscular picture of the Raman effect. With an intense laser source, the number of monochromatic photons impinging on the molecules of a medium per unit volume and unit time may be extremely large.... the selection rules for the vibrational and rotational transitions in the hyper-Raman effect are different... Thus certain transitions are observable in the hyper-Raman effect that are normally forbidden. This is one virtue of the hyper-Raman effect; the other is that it is observed in a spectral region whose frequency is far removed from that of the incoming radiation(and is, in fact, twice that of the latter). 1, record 46, English, - hyper%2DRaman%20effect

Dielectric strength test(test No. 1). A test voltage with a value of 2 kV r. m. s., practically sinusoidal in form, with a frequency between 45 and 65 Hz inclusive and supplied by a source with an apparent power of at least 500 VA, is applied for one minute between, firstly, all terminals interconnected between themselves, and secondly, a flat metal surface on which the meter base rests. For detachable type meters, the voltage is applied between the interconnected terminals, and the metal casing of the meter. No disruptive discharge must occur during the test. 2, record 51, English, - dielectric%20strength%20test

The transmitter loop is a large rectangle, several thousand feet to the side. A long wire might also be used. The detector consists of two mutually perpendicular loops, one horizontal and one vertical, connected effectively in opposition through a transformer to amplifier and headphones. The vertical coil, with a fixed number of turns, is shunted by a capacitance to give parallel resonance at the source frequency and is connected through a reversing switch to the transformer primary. The horizontal coil has multiple taps for a variable inductance. The coils are about two feet in diameter and are mounted on a vertical post. 1, record 52, English, - Bieler%2DWatson%20method

1, record 52, French, - m%C3%A9thode%20Bieler%2DWatson
