Simmonds Precision Aircraft Systems. ... One of the most successful multimode fiber optic sensors to date has been the Faraday sensor. This type of device has been used to detect rotational speed, torque, proximity and other parameters. When in a reflective configuration, the transducer element has consisted of a thin Faraday film between a polarizer and a mirror. In this paper, it is shown that enhanced performance of the sensor results when the polarizing element is removed from the transducer. 2, record 1, English, - transducer%20element

Blood Velocity Meter. A continuous ultrasonic wave in the megahertz region is scattered as it passes through blood. The back-scattered part of the signal can be collected by a receiving transducer next to the transducer emitting the continuous waves, and the returning signal will be shifted in frequency in proportion to the velocity of the blood in the vessel. This Doppler frequency shift can be detected and applied to a frequency meter(e. g. zero crossing detector) or frequency analyzer to produce a signal proportional to blood velocity. 2, record 3, English, - blood%20velocity%20meter

Capacitive sensor. Capacitive proximity sensors are triggered by a change in the surrounding dielectric. The transducer of a capacitive sensor is configured to act as the plate of a capacitor. The dielectric property of any object present in the sensing field increases the capacitance of the transducer circuit and, in turn, changes the frequency of an oscillator circuit. A detector circuit senses this change in frequency, and signals the output to change state. 1, record 9, English, - capacitive%20sensor
