Amphidromy is a distinctive form of diadromy that involves some fish, decapod crustaceans and gastropod molluscs. Characteristic elements in amphidromy are : reproduction in fresh water, passage to sea by newly hatched larvae, a period of feeding and growing at sea usually a few months long, return to fresh water of well‐grown juveniles, a further period of feeding and growing in fresh water, followed by reproduction there. 2, record 16, English, - amphidromy

The Alaska Salmon Packing and Fur Company built the first saltery near Ketchikan at Naha, near the outlet of Roosevelt Lagoon. This saltery began operations in 1883 when it packed 338 barrels. Salteries were constructed much like a barn with large tables inside where men split the fish in two and removed the intestines and blood. They scrubbed the fish and cleaned them with fresh water. The men placed the fish in rows with the skin side down inside of large barrels called "tierces. "Each tierce held about 800 pounds of fish. Workers added 16 pounds of salt(similar to table salt) for every 100 pounds of fish. 3, record 32, English, - saltery

Town-Country Symbiosis in Calcutta. Historically, the city's eastward expansion halted west of a marginal zone of low lying marshlands, variously known as Dhapa, East Calcutta, or the area of the salt water lakes. Here a symbiotic, creative relationship exists between town and country. With the participation of the rural inhabitants, much of the solid trash, liquid sewage, and polluted air generated by the metropolis of over ten million inhabitants is recycled into organic nutrients, fresh water, and clean air. The system reduces urban waste, creates a daily supply of fresh fish and green vegetables for Calcutta's kitchens, and generates employment and revenue for East Calcutta's thirty-odd villages. 1, record 37, English, - town%2Dcountry%20symbiosis
