La pression atmosphérique représente la pression que l'atmosphère exerce au-dessus de nous. Au niveau de la mer, elle est de 760 mmHg, ou 1 bar. Cette pression augmente, dans l'eau, d'un bar tous les 10.33 m. On exprime la pression absolue, ou atmosphère absolue (ATA), par rapport au vide total. C'est l'unité utilisée en médecine hyperbare.

OBS

L'expression de l'atmosphère absolue, ou ATA, est égale à la pression lue au manomètre de plongée plus celle qui est lue au baromètre sur le lieu.

Three Axis Magnetometer [-] TAM... Redundant TAMs are provided to sense the local strength and direction of the Earth's magnetic field. Each TAM consists of a sensor and a separately packaged electronics unit. The analog outputs provided by the TAM allow for sensing magnetic field data in three orthogonal axes. TAM-Operation Once the TAM is powered there will be no ground interactions necessary. The TAM data is used by the FSW ACS [Flight Software Attitude Control Subsystem routine to determine the local magnetic field when reaction wheel momentum unloading is deemed necessary via the magnetic torque rods [Landsat].

Les problèmes de neurophysiologie sous hautes pressions ont été posés à l'origine par la plongée profonde aux mélanges synthétiques c'est-à-dire, la pratique du travail sous-marin en condition d'équipression avec le milieu (ex : 30 bars ou 3 MPa sous 300 mètres d'eau de mer). Il est apparu que la vie sous pression entraînait des perturbations du système nerveux qui surviennent pour des pressions relativement faibles : 3 à 4 bars avec l'air comprimé, c'est la narcose à l'azote; 10 à 15 bars avec le mélange hélium-oxygène, c'est le syndrome nerveux des hautes pressions (SNHP).
