A further inspection of the aircraft’s fuel system was carried out in the hangar. ... The filter and filter bowl were examined. The filter was clear and the bowl contained almost no sediment. No foreign matter was found which would have restricted the flow of fuel to the engine. 3, record 1, English, - filter%20bowl

Similar arguments can be made concerning the shape of a reactor. It can be shown that for a given volume of fuel and moderator a sphere always has the smallest leakage. A sphere is not a practical shape from an engineering point of view. Instead, we use a cylindrical reactor core that has the diameter slightly bigger than the length. The actual shape is a compromise between engineering and nuclear considerations. 1, record 3, English, - cylindrical%20reactor%20core

1, record 3, French, - coeur%20de%20r%C3%A9acteur%20cylindrique

Sealing compounds. Certain areas of all aircraft are sealed to withstand pressurization by air, to prevent leakage of fuel, to prevent passage of fumes, or to prevent corrosion by sealing against the weather. Most sealants consist of two or more ingredients properly proportioned and compounded to obtain the best results. Some materials are ready for use as packaged, but others will require mixing before application. 3, record 4, English, - sealing%20compound

In the closed-cycle gas turbine, essentially all the working medium(except for seal leakage, bleed loss, and any addition or extraction of working medium for control purposes) is continuously recycled. Heat from a source such as fossil fuel(or possibly, nuclear reaction) is transferred through the walls of a closed heater to the cycle. The closed cycle can be charged with gases other than air, such as helium, carbon dioxide or nitrogen. 1, record 6, English, - closed%2Dcycle%20gas%20turbine
