FUEL PLATE [23 records]

Record 1 2017-04-20

English

Subject field(s)
  • Nuclear Fission Reactors
CONT

A reactor pressure vessel(RPV) of a boiling water reactor(BWR) typically has a generally cylindrical shape and is closed at both ends, e. g., by a bottom head and a removable top head. A core assembly is contained within the RPV and includes the core support plate, fuel assemblies, control rod blades and a top guide. A core shroud typically surrounds the core assembly and is supported by a shroud support structure. Particularly, the shroud has a generally cylindrical shape and surrounds both the core plate and the top guide. There is a space or annulus located between the cylindrical reactor pressure vessel and the cylindrically shaped shroud.

Subject field(s)
  • Fuel Cells (Electr.)
DEF

Conductive plate in a fuel cell stack that acts as an anode for one cell and a cathode for the adjacent cell... The plate usually incorporates flow channels for the fluid feeds and may also contain conduits for heat transfer.

CONT

Because of the configuration of a flat plate cell,..., the interconnect becomes a separator plate with two functions : 1) to provide an electrical series connection between adjacent cells, specifically for flat plate cells, and 2) to provide a gas barrier that separates the fuel and oxidant of adjacent cells.

CONT

The separator plates provide the electrical series connection between cells and physically separate the oxidant flow of one cell from the fuel flow of the adjacent cell.

CONT

While the current SOFC [Solid oxide fuel cell] operates at 1000 °C, this high temperature has limited the materials that can be used for the various cell components(electrolyte, anode, cathode, and interconnect or bipolar plate) to relatively expensive ceramic compositions.

CONT

[In the] SOFC ... [the] electrolyte, anode, cathode and interconnect or bipolar plate [have] relatively expensive ceramic composition.

CONT

The accumulator is intended for heating fuel components in the rocket and space engines and can be used in space engineering, aircraft and other branches of industry. The task of increasing gas heating efficiency, reducing mass of the construction, diminution of dimensions and lowering thermal and hydraulic losses of heated gas is solved by making a heat accumulating element as a mono-unit in the form of cylinder. The covers with branch pipes are recessed in the ends of the mono-unit. The covers are butt joined to mono-unit on conical surfaces through pressurizing end seals at forming the collectors for gas feed and discharge. Plate electric heater and channels or annular slot for flowing gas are located along the longitudinal axis. The axis of channels or annular slot location divides the mass of heat accumulating element into two equal parts. In so doing, porous insert or a set of badly stream-lined bodies is in the channels or annular slot. All units of heat accumulator are coated with gas-dense material.

A pipe, mounted to the front plate of a combustion chamber, through which an optical flame detector sights the burner flame.

CONT

The Forney Dual Fuel Horn Igniter assembly consists of a mounting plate, combination oil and gas gun, High Energy Spark Igniter(HESI), 6" combustion air tube, flame detector and horn. The mounting plate retains the oil/gas gun, HESI and flame detector guide pipe. The flame detector head is mounted on a 1" sight pipe which provides an unobstructed view of the flame inside the horn.

CONT

This fibre optic viewing head extension is particularly useful for solving the sighting problems associated with tilting or movable burners. The flame envelope from this type of burner can be tilted from a horizontal position up or down as much as 30 degrees. It would be impossible to follow this flame pattern with a fixed sighting through the wind-box. Welding the tip guide (lens end) of this viewing head extension to the movable air compartment nozzle solves this problem. This viewing head extension can also be used for those applications where it is impossible to find a clear unobstructed view of the flame using a standard sight pipe. Here again the viewing head extension is mounted inside the furnace for a clear unobstructed view of the flame.

Terms, charcoal plate and coke plate, which in last century described quality of iron used as a base metal have now come to be applied to tin plate of certain coating thickness. Amount of coating on coke plates is generally between 1.24 and 2.5 pounds per base box - on charcoal plates between 3 pounds and 5 pounds per base box.

CONT

Tin Plate.... When coated by the hot-dip process, the tin plate was termed coke tin plate or charcoal tin plate. When coated by the electrolytic process, it is termed electrolytic tin plate.... Hot-Dipped Tin Plate. Tin plate formerly was produced by the hot-dip tinning of thin plates that had been hammered or rolled from bars of puddled iron. The pig iron used in pudding might have been made in blast furnaces using charcoal or coke as fuel. Plates made from "charcoal iron" were considered a more ductile and higher grade product; hence, tin plate made by coating charcoal-iron plates with tin(charcoal tin plate) was regarded as a product of higher quality than tin plate with a coke-iron base(coke tin plate). At present, the designation "charcoal tin plate" merely indicates plate with a relatively heavy tin coating as compared with "coke tin plate" as described below, and has no significance so far as quality of the steel base is concerned.

OBS

Various grades of hot-dipped tin plate were produced, the terminology indicating in a general way the weight of tin coating or, more exactly, the amount of tin used to produce the given unit or base box of plate. Coke tin plate has always designated the plate produced with the lowest amount of tin and formerly was called Cokes or Common Cokes. In ascending weight of coating, the various grades were Common Cokes, Standard Cokes, Best Cokes, and Kanners Special. Charcoal tin plate carries still heavier coatings including 1A and 2A.
