FUEL RICH [10 records]

Record 1 2017-02-22

English

Subject field(s)
  • Combustion and Fuels (Fireplaces)
  • Burners and Steamfitting
  • Fueling Systems (Motor Vehicles)
DEF

An air-fuel mixture in which an excess of air is supplied in proportion to the amount of fuel.

OBS

After the engine is running and has warmed up, the fuel system "leans out" the mixture(makes it less rich) to about 15 pounds(6. 80 kg) of air to 1 pound(0. 45 kg) of gasoline.

OBS

lean mixture: term officially approved by the Lexicon Project Committee (New Brunswick).

French

Domaine(s)
  • Combustion et combustibles (Foyers)
  • Fumisterie et brûleurs
  • Alimentation (Véhicules automobiles)
CONT

Record 2 2009-09-16

English

Subject field(s)
  • Nuclear Physics
CONT

A composite material comprising a pure copper or dispersion strengthened copper matrix and a boron rich species, such as, but not limited to, elemental boron or boron carbide, for use in the fabrication of baskets that support spent nuclear fuel in nuclear waste containers. A method for manufacturing the composite material using powder metallurgy and hot extrusion.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Physique nucléaire
DEF

Record 3 2000-06-20

English

Subject field(s)
  • Burners and Steamfitting
DEF

A rich flame or fire resulting from combustion of a mixture containing too much fuel and too little air.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Fumisterie et brûleurs
DEF

Flamme obtenue avec un excès de combustible.

Record 4 2000-04-28

English

Subject field(s)
  • Fueling Systems (Motor Vehicles)
  • Combustion and Fuels (Fireplaces)
DEF

An air-fuel mixture that has a relatively high proportion of fuel and a relatively low proportion of air. An air-fuel ratio of 13 : 1 indicates a rich mixture, compares with an air-fuel ratio of 16 : 1.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Alimentation (Véhicules automobiles)
  • Combustion et combustibles (Foyers)
CONT

Record 5 2000-02-28

English

Subject field(s)
  • Combustion and Fuels (Fireplaces)
DEF

the air-fuel ratio supplied to a furnace that provides more air than the optimum ratio.

CONT

The operating principal of the RMB [Rapid Mix Burner] staged firing configuration is to bum as much of the fuel as possible under the high excess air, ultralow NOx conditions. As a result of the fundamental principle mentioned above, this is done by operating the burners air rich(under conditions similar to normal firing, but with higher excess air and with a moderate amount of FGR), where the maximum theoretical NOx, formation is very predictable. Heat is extracted from these air-rich combustion products and cool furnace recirculation products are entrained. The staged fuel is then mixed with the air-rich burner products and combustion is completed. The excess air at the boiler outlet is thus similar to that with normal firing.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Combustion et combustibles (Foyers)
CONT

Record 6 1997-09-08

English

Subject field(s)
  • Air Transport
DEF

A start which occurs when the engine starts and self-accelerates, but exhaust temperature exceeds prescribed limits. This is usually caused by an excessively rich mixture in the combustor. The fuel to the engine must be terminated immediately to prevent engine damage.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Transport aérien
OBS

Record 7 1986-07-11

English

Subject field(s)
  • Diesel Motors
CONT

The precombustion chamber provide a quiet space in which the fuel starts to burn with an insufficient amount of air. This excessively rich mixture explodes throwing the unburned fuel into the main chamber and mixing it thoroughly with the remaining air.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Moteurs diesel
CONT

English

Subject field(s)
  • Surveillance and Formalities (Air Transport)

CONT

A cockpit "clean-up" is due after the landing roll is complete and the aircraft off the runway. If taxi distance to the parking area is short, the check might be delayed until then. The essential of the "after-landing check" usually are : 1. Cowl flaps-open(if adjustable). 2. Wing flaps-up. 3. Propeller and fuel-mixture controls-full advanced and rich. 4. Trim tabs-reset. 5. Fuel boost pump switch-off(if used for landing).

English

Subject field(s)
  • Fueling Systems (Motor Vehicles)
