The Combustion Integrated Rack(CIR), will be uniquely configured to support microgravity combustion research on board ISS. Combustion experiment equipment will be installed on-orbit in the CIR to customize it to perform many different experiments during the ten or more years that it will operate on board ISS. Studies of laminar flames, reaction kinetics, droplet and spray combustion, flame spread, fire and fire suppressants, condensed phase organic fuel combustion, turbulent combustion, soot and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and flame-synthesized materials are planned. 2, record 2, English, - combustion%20integrated%20rack

2, record 4, French, - angle%20de%20pulv%C3%A9risation

Air Atomizing Oil Burners. Except for the nozzle, this burner is similar in construction to the pressure atomizing burner. Atomizing air and oil are supplied to individual parts within the nozzle. The nozzle design allows the oil to break up into small droplet form as a result of the shear forces created by the atomizing air. The atomized oil is carried from the nozzle through the outlet orifice by the air flow into the furnace. 2, record 5, English, - air%2Datomizing%20oil%20burner

5, record 5, French, - br%C3%BBleur%20%C3%A0%20pulv%C3%A9risation%20par%20air

In the steam atomizing burner, atomization is accomplished by the impact and expansion of steam. Oil and steam flow in separate channels through the burner gun to the nozzle where the steam and oil mix before being discharged through an orifice into the combustion space. This type of burner is used mainly on large boilers generating steam at 100 psi and higher and having capacities above 12,000,000 Btu per hr input... 4, record 6, English, - steam%2Datomizing%20oil%20burner

1, record 6, French, - br%C3%BBleur%20%C3%A0%20pulv%C3%A9risation%20par%20vapeur
