FUEL SYSTEM LIGHT [5 records]

Record 1 2013-05-24

English

Subject field(s)
  • Ignition Systems (Motor Vehicles)
CONT

There is clear agreement among the manufacturers that the basic emission control approach will be the closed-loop, three-way catalyst system. In addition to the catalyst, the typical system will consist of exhaust gas recirculation(EGR), air injection(pulse air in light vehicles, air pump in heavy vehicles), oxygen sensor, micro-computer, and feed-back carburator or electronic fuel injection.

Spanish

  • Sistemas de encendido (Vehículos automotores)
DEF

OBS

EFI, por sus siglas en inglés.

The ignition switch does several jobs. It turns the ignition system on and off. It a has a START position for operating the starting motor. It operates the steering-wheel lock, and an audible or light signal if the ignition key is in the ignition lock when a door opens or if seat belts are not buckled. In many vehicles, the electric fuel pump connects to the battery through the ignition switch. Other accessories such as the radio and heater blower motor also receive power through ignition switch.

OBS

Another innovation is the back-surface reflector(BSR). Even in photovoltaic devices operating at theoretical maximum efficiency, less than 40% of the light to which it is sensitive is absorbed by the cell and converted to electricity. The rest travels through unabsorbed and becomes a system loss. However, the BSR reflects this light back through the cell for a second pass, which greatly increases the conversion efficiency. Also, the BSR reflects radiation to which the cell is not sensitive. This radiation is called out-of-band radiation, and cannot be converted to electricity with this given material bandgap. By reflecting the out-of-band radiation back through the cell, it passes back out the front to the heat source where it is recycled.(Essentially, it helps keep the heat source hot so less fuel is required.)

CONT

  • Flight Instruments and Equipment (Aeroindustry)
CONT

Fuel transfer is normally automatic, but in this and some other flight tests the transfer was to be carried out manually, because the desired C-of-G was outside the parameters controlled by the automatic system. As the wings reached the full-forward position, the B-1 became unstable and control was lost. The CG caution light and the master caution system functioned properly...
