Earth explorer missions such as Cryosat, the Gravity field and steady state Ocean Circulation Explorer(GOCE), the Soil Moisture Ocean Salinity(SMOS) and the initiation of full implementation of the Atmospheric Dynamics Mission(ADM-Aeolus) are major achievements of the first phase of this programme. The second phase, EOEP-2, will give the Earth Science community and industry a stable outlook in which one new mission will be launched every year. It will also cover preparation of Earth Watch missions.

Nevertheless, we shall use the term strain to cover the general situation on enzyme-transition state complementary.

In one of the larger and more Complex operations ever supported in the Arctic by the National Science Foundation(NSF), an ice breaker was frozen into the perennial pack ice and left to drift for a full year. From October, 1997 to October 1998, the ship served as a floating scientific research station, supporting the Surface Heat Budget of the Arctic Ocean(SHEBA) project. The mission was to acquire data on the great canopy of pack ice, about the size of the United States, that covers the surface of the Arctic Ocean. Researchers at the ice station studied the atmosphere, ocean, sea ice and snow cover, to determine how these media interact through the surface heat budget, and how the interactions affect climate.

In the summer of 1994 NASA approved adding an optical-quality nadir-viewing window to the U. S. Laboratory Module of the International Space Station. The window can view 39. 5 degrees forward along the axis of the ISS, 32. 2 degrees aft, and a total of 79. 1 degrees from port to starboard. The window is constructed of three panes of fused silica and a fourth protective kick pane made of glass laminate. From outboard to inboard, the panes are : OUTBOARD-An external debris pane that can be changed by an EVA astronaut if damaged. A redundant pressure pane. A primary pressure pane. A scratch or "kick" pane that protects the primary pressure pane from being damaged if the crew or equipment make contact with the window [and] provides a UV-IR coating to protect the crew members. INBOARD-The kick pane is removed during window research operations to take advantage of the full spectrum of radiation that passes through the fused silica panes. When not in use, the window is protected by the kick pane on the inside, and by an external cover on the outside. The external cover can be rotated in or out of position from within the cabin by an astronaut using a hand crank.

The boxcar has a doorway on each side at the centre of the car; the doorways are approximately 1. 8 metres wide and cover the full height of the box. Before loading, the doorways are covered to the height the grain will be loaded by applying a cardboard or wooden lining(called a grain door) across the door opening and inside the permanent car door. The cardboard or wooden liners are supplied at loading stations by the railways and are applied by elevator company personnel. This procedure is known as coopering.
