1, record 5, French, - %C3%A9preuve%20du%20rebond

Solid tires. Introduced in 1881 on the wheels of hansom cabs in London and formerly used for many types of road vehicles, solid tires disappeared from highways, mostly because of legislation that discouraged their use because they were hard on roads. Large sizes were supplanted by large pneumatic tires(truck and bus casings), but small solid tires came to be used extensively on industrial trucks and tractors. Some of these are made with metal base bands to which the rubber(and in some cases, rubbery polyurethane compositions) is firmly attached. These bands are the full width of the base of the tire and are often dovetailed to secure firm anchorage of a hard-rubber constituting the main portion of the tire. 1, record 6, English, - solid%20tire

The term applied to the phenomenon which occurs when an output signal is limited in some way by the full range of an amplifier, analog-to-digital converter(ADC) or other device. When this occurs, the signal is flattened a the peak values, the signal approaches the shape of a square wave, and high frequency components are introduced. Clipping may be hard, as is the case when the signal is strictly limited at some level; or it may be soft, in which case the clipping signal continues to follow the input at some reduced gain. 1, record 9, English, - clipping

(ESWL) works in something like a high-tech Ribe Goldberg sequence. The patient, usually anesthetized from the waist down to obliterate the mild discomfort of the shocks, is strapped onto a pallet and lowered into a specially designed tub full of water. X-rays reveal the precise location of the kidney stone on two television monitors. The physician pushes a button, and a spark plug at the bottom of the tank fires, vaporizing some of the water, which then creates a pressure wave. After bouncing off an elliptical brass reflector that is aimed at the patient's kidney stone, the wave passes harmlessly through the patient's tissues but creates a shattering impact when it collides with the hard stone. More than a thousand individual shocks may be required to completely break up a stone, which will wash away in the patient's urine after it disintegrates. 6, record 10, English, - extracorporeal%20shock%20wave%20lithotripter
