OBS

Glassiled is a laminated glass with embedded monocolour Light Emitting Diodes(LED's) which are powered through a high performance invisible conductive coating. Glassiled is available with either standard LED's for decorative purposes or with extra high power LED's for lighting purposes. Light sources float on glass without any visible wiring on the glass surface, allowing you to take advantage of the full transparency and elegance of the glass. Glassiled can be used for signaling, decoration, illumination and even for lighting in monocolour applications.

OBS

Glassiled: A trademark of AGC.

OBS

DEF

Quotient of the luminous flux incident on an infinitesimal element of a surface containing the point under consideration, by the area of that element.

CONT

Illuminance (usually ’E’ in formulas) is the total amount of visible light illuminating (incident upon) a point on a surface from all directions above the surface. This "surface" can be a physical surface or an imaginary plane. Therefore illuminance is equivalent to irradiance weighted with the response curve of the human eye.

OBS

Standard unit for illuminance is Lux(lx) which is lumens per square meter(lm/m²). There are several older units of illuminance : footcandle : 1 fc=10. 764 lx; phot : 1 ph=10 000 lx. Typical illuminance values are : 1 lx=full moon; 10 lx=street lighting; 100-1 000 lx=workspace lighting; 10 000 lx=surgery lighting; 100 000 lx=plain sunshine.

OBS

"Illumination" is a deprecated term for "illuminance".

OBS

illuminance: term officially approved by the RADARSAT-2 Terminology Approval Group (RTAG).

DEF

[An effect seen on] photographs confined to light and occasionally middle tones by using soft diffused lighting, fairly full exposure and dilute developer for the negative in black and white work.

OBS

In color the effect is obtained by appropriate choice of subject and shadowless lighting.

DEF

A method of detecting the possible absence of lustre on a coin. Tilt the coin in good lighting, and look for minute changes in the appearance of the lustre on both the obverse and the reverse. Especially around the likely points of first wear on the coin. Those areas where the lustre has been damaged or lost will appear a grayish colour against the typical twinkling brilliance of full lustre surrounding it.
