... the solution — off-throttle steering — is now taken for granted by most PWC [personal watercraft] consumers. Many may not even realize their craft have the capability for good reason. The inclusion of OTS into most craft is relatively seamless. The system works by detecting two coinciding occurrences, the abrupt release of the throttle and a full turn to port or starboard. Electronic sensors note the two situations, and respond by increasing RPM [revolutions per minute] just enough to once again push some water through the jet nozzle. That small blast of propulsion is just enough to start the craft turning in the direction the driver has turned the handlebars, hopefully allowing the craft to begin an evasive maneuver and avoid the object in the craft's path.

CONT

If the path name does not begin with the / character, the system assumes that the path begins at the current directory. This type of path name is called a relative path name.

CONT

A path name(also called a pathname) tells the system how to locate a file. The path name is expressed as a sequence of directory names that can also be expressed as symbolic links..., followed by the name of the file. Individual directories and the file name are separated by a slash(/) character.... There are two ways of indicating a path name : an absolute path name(also known as a full path name) [and a] relative path name.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Systèmes d'exploitation (Logiciels)
CONT

"Path Image" products are recommended for individuals and organisations experienced in image processing. The "Path Image" product is aligned parallel to the satellite’s orbit path. Latitude and longitude positional information has been added to represent the first, mid, and last pixel positions of each line of data. Data from all beam modes can be processed to this product.

OBS

The difference between "Path Image" and "Path Image Plus" processing lies in the procedure used to calibrate the data. "Path Image Plus" uses a smaller pixel spacing to retain full RADARSAT beam mode resolution which will enhance your ability to measure point targets. However, it will create a digital file which is considerably larger than a "Path Image" product.

OBS

"Path Image" and "Path Image Plus" for Standard and Fine beam modes. "Path Image" for ScanSAR Wide and Narrow beam modes.

OBS

"Path Image" product: term officially approved by the RADARSAT-2 Terminology Approval Group (RTAG).

French

Domaine(s)
  • Télédétection
OBS

From the top of Big Baldy, a series of parallel chutes run through trees. They join with the NE facing slopes below the ridge at 7400 feet... Below 7400 feet, the track follows the canyon bottom. There are several small benches and terrain traps, but the overall angle stays at or below 30 degrees... Below 6200 feet, the track fans out on a shallow debris fan. A full-path slide will cover the floor of Providence Canyon. The avalanche triggered in the 3/12/97 incident ran the full length of the path.

OBS

An avalanche path is a specific location where avalanches occur. Avalanche paths are often sub-divided into three sections: the starting zone, the track and the runout zone.

OBS

"Path Image Plus" uses smaller pixel spacing than "Path Image" to retain full RADARSAT beam mode resolution. This will enhance your ability to make detailed analyses of point targets(e. g., ships, isolated buildings), linear features(e. g., pipelines, drainage networks), or to obtain subsequent spatial information if required. However, it will create a digital file that is considerably larger than a "Path Image" product. Data from all beam modes, with the exception of ScanSAR, can be processed to this product.

A helper on a truck, tractor, or other machine.

CONT

Truck [number] 122 had a designated swamper. A swamper is a worker who accompanies the load to be moved. For example, if a truck were backing up with a load, the swamper would walk behind the load, on the truck's passenger side. The truck driver would have full view of the swamper with the passenger side mirror. The swamper would guide the load and signal to the trucker to stop if equipment, road hazards, or workers were in the path of the load.

OBS

[The] swamper ... assists a truck driver load and unload and helps take care of the vehicle.

swamper: a slang term.
