Operational bypasses. The trips that protect the reactor in one mode of normal operation may prevent changes to other operational states. For example, the trips that protect the reactor at low power will prevent the reactor from reaching full power. To permit such changes, the initiation of an unnecessary and unwanted protective action should be inhibited by means of an operational bypass(sometimes referred to as trip conditioning). Such logic conditioning of trip signals should be integrated into the protection system. 1, record 1, English, - operational%20bypass

Inhibitions d’exploitation. 1, record 1, French, - inhibition%20d%26rsquo%3Bexploitation

Each of the two hydraulic systems for the Douglas DC-9 airplane is provided with an auxiliary, electrically driven, variable-displacement hydraulic pump. The pumps are explosion-resistant, hydraulic-fluid-cooled and lubricated, self-supercharged, and pressure-and horsepower-controlled. They are capable of supplying a nonpulsating flow of hydraulic fluid in varying volume, depending upon system pressure... Control of the pumps is accomplished by means of switches in the flight compartment. If one engine should stop or if the hydraulic pump on that engine should fail, it is merely necessary to turn on the electric pump switch to place the system back in full operation. Each pump is connected to its respective system by means of flexible hoses with a ground power suction disconnect fitting installed in the suction line. The left pump can be quickly removed and installed in the right system if the right pump fails. 2, record 6, English, - electric%20auxiliary%20pump

Direct injection(DI) refers to fuel injected directly into the combustion chamber above the piston. Direct injection has long been used on large diesel engines. Smaller diesels are increasingly adopting direct injection(vs. indirect injection into a pre-chamber). Direct injection also can be used in spark ignition(generally gasoline) engines instead of port fuel injection-for cleaner emissions, increased full throttle power and potentially for lean-burn operation. 4, record 8, English, - direct%20injection%20engine

An experimental system that uses off-the-shelf microcomputers in a triplicated configuration with voting to achieve reliability with both permanent and transient faults. This system was designed at Carnegie-Mellon University by Siewiorek et al. to provide reliable real time computing with software transparency to the fault tolerant aspects of the system. The basic design is modular, and it includes power distribution so that parts of the system can be serviced while the rest of the system is in operation. The processors are each DEC LSI-IIs with voting Logic, which votes on all processor accesses to the bus. The system can also operate with each processor working separately and interprocessor communications taking place via the full duplex single-word parallel interfaces. 1, record 14, English, - Computer%20Voted%20Multiprocessor

The basic elements of much of the new technology can already be seen in operation. They include intelligent flight control in which, for example, simple stall warning devices and stick pushers are replaced by a flight control sub-system which positively controls angle of attack, applies engine power to maintain height or flight speed, and actively maintains the aircraft in the correct altitude for optimum performance if a full nose-up demand is maintained for a protracted period. 1, record 15, English, - intelligent%20flight%20control

1, record 15, French, - commandes%20de%20vol%20intelligentes
