Moreover, cases have been reported that fuel spheres are broken if the control rod is inserted forcibly into the core because the pebble reactor core is full of fuel spheres accumulated inside the reactor core, which causes a serious drawback.

There is another development that has recently appeared in a few tests that is important for the future development of test batteries. This is the appearance of absolute scales. An absolute scale is one that covers the entire range of a function, from zero(theoretically) to the full adult range. Zero is often unattainable in psychological scores; so the bottom of a scale is the lowest score for which a reliable score can be obtained. In practice such tests have an extended range from a below-average IQ of a young child to a superior adult IQ. In many areas, such as memory or tapping speed, a zero is obtainable.

Full scale tests for breadmaking are carried out on the grain produced in the Bread Wheat Co-operative Tests(Central and Western). In these tests, new varieties and standard varieties, one of which is Marquis, are grown at about 20 stations. Gyro Scale Factor Error: This is an indication of the angular error which occurs during rotation. E.g. with 300 ppm scale factor error (=0.03%) the angular error is in the area of 0.1 degree after one revolution.

... From the character of the bran and the percentages of flour obtained, an opinion can be formed of the approximate milling quality of the small samples. The flours produced are substantially free from bran and germ and therefore can be satisfactorily used for one or more predictive tests for baking quality. The tests usually applied depend on the quantity of flour available. The usual tests are 1) protein content, 2) Zelehy sedimentation test and 3) micromixograph test. By using these methods, it is possible to eliminate a large number of hybrids which mill poorly or yeild flour of unsatisfactory quality, without having to multiply them through later generations to produce larger samples required for full scale quality tests.

The fibrous material is soaked in high pressure liquid ammonia at elevated temperatures. When the pressure is released, the ammonia evaporates rapidly, fracturing the fibre structure, making it susceptible to enzyme hydrolysis. Residual ammonia in the disrupted fibre provides a nitrogen source for the fermenting microbes.
