FULL-SCALE MODEL [4 records]

Record 1 2000-10-31

English

Subject field(s)
  • Engineering Tests and Reliability
  • Architectural Design
DEF

A model identical in proportion and size to a structure , built for study and testing.

OBS

full-scale : built to the full size(usually in contrast with an experimental model or blueprint).

French

Domaine(s)
  • Fiabilité, contrôle et essais (Ingénierie)
  • Conception architecturale
DEF

Record 2 2000-07-26

English

Subject field(s)
  • Industrial Design
DEF

Testing for pilot production samples.

CONT

Pilot run product testing. ... testing of the pilot run must do more than establish that the product meets applicable industry standards. It must also meet or exceed the performance requirements set when the product originated.

OBS

The word "pilot" implies entry into production and not full-scale, high-volume levels. This is true in most product areas because it is a transition from the small-scale prototype building often done by model makers or technicians to the large-scale production done by production workers and equipment.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Dessin industriel
OBS

Modèles de présérie du produit. Un modèle de présérie est [...] fabriqué en série relativement petite dans le but de mettre en évidence les problèmes pratiques [...] rencontrées au cours de la fabrication [...]

English

Subject field(s)
  • Mathematics
  • Environmental Studies and Analyses
  • Air Pollution
CONT

In the Alberta Oil Sands Experimental Study, the most commonly used formulas, namely Briggs ..., TVA 1971 and 1972 ... were selected to examine their predictive capability in determining the rise of the GCOS plume.

OBS

TVA 1971 and 1972. Two models for [delta] h were developed at the Air Quality Branch of the Tennessee Valley Authority by Montgomery et al(1971 & 1972). The formulas are based on a full-scale study of plume rise from a large electric generating plant. The first model follows that of Briggs and is based on the 2/3 law. The second however is not based on the 2/3 law but on a best fit to the experimental observations.

Record 4 1984-11-13

English

Subject field(s)
  • Spacecraft
CONT

During the year validation tests of all design critical parts were completed. A full-scale breadboard model of the [Spacelab Space] sled electronics unit was tested with a special rig simulating the dynamics of all moving parts. Seat mock-ups were made to check ergonomic aspect of the design and to validate system design safety features.
