FULLY RETRACTED POSITION [5 records]

Record 1 2010-02-26

English

Subject field(s)
  • Electric Motors
OBS

in normal operation, after the main entrance ladder assembly has been fully retracted, the motor continues to run for a few seconds and applies a nominal 7000 lb-in wind-up load to hold the(...) ladder securely in the retracted position.

Record 2 - external organization data 2010-02-19

English

Subject field(s)
  • Mechanical Components
  • Security Devices
  • Protection of Life
  • Compartment - Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission
CONT

When the drive cable is in "push-in" position, the source capsule assembly compresses the retaining spring and moves forward to a window in the shielding. When the drive cable is retracted or "pull-back", the retaining spring recoils and moves the source capsule assembly back to the fully shielded position.

CONT

Lorsque le câble est en position «poussée», la source vient comprimer le ressort de retenue et se déplace jusqu'à la fenêtre d'exposition. Lorsque le câble est retiré, soit en position traction, le ressort de retenue se détend et renvoie la source en position blindée.

Record 3 2008-04-22

English

Subject field(s)
  • Flight Controls (Aeroindustry)
  • Landing Gear (Aeroindustry)
CONT

The MLG [main landing gear] retracts inwards into the fuselage wheel well. Each MLG has two doors. The outboard door is rigidly attached at the strut. The inboard door operates by mechanical linkage to the strut and is held in up position by two uplock cylinders. This uplock is released when landing gear lever is placed in down position by hydraulic pressure, or by nitrogen pressure in emergency. The MLG is held, while airborne, in retracted position by hydraulic pressure in the actuator and by the inboard door mechanical uplock, if pressure drops. As the gear is extended, an internal lock in the actuator automatically locks it in fully extended positions.

Domaine(s)
  • Commandes de vol (Constructions aéronautiques)
  • Atterrisseur (Constructions aéronautiques)
CONT

English

Subject field(s)
  • Mechanical Components
  • Chains and Cables (Mechanical Components)
  • Radiological Physics (Theory and Application)
  • Compartment - Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission
CONT

When used as a pipeline exposure device, the source capsule assembly is projected to the radiographic exposure position by means of a "push-pull" drive cable attached to the lifting at the rear of the exposure device. When the drive cable is in "push-in" position, the source capsule assembly compresses the retaining spring and moves forward to a window in the shielding. When the drive cable is retracted or "pull-back", the retaining spring recoils and moves the source capsule assembly back to the fully shielded position.

CONT

Subject field(s)
  • Aircraft Systems
CONT

Two single engine second segment climb pressure switches are provided to shut down both air-conditioning systems at any altitude in the event of engine failure, provided the air-conditioning supply switch is in the armed position. Second segment climb/starts at the time the landing gear is fully retracted and continues until the airplane reaches an altitude of at least 400 feet above the runway. The system is normally energized prior to takeoff and deenergized after airplane climb is complete.
