Dependency, in its most basic sense, refers to a reliance on a particular substance to function normally. This reliance may be driven by a physical need, wherein the body has adapted to the presence of the substance and requires it to avoid withdrawal symptoms. More broadly, it can also involve a psychological element, where the individual feels unable to cope without the substance, leading to a sense of attachment and habituation. 3, record 2, English, - dependence

Your basal metabolic rate(BMR) refers to the minimum number of calories your body needs to function at a basic level. This includes maintaining all your cells and essential bodily functions, like breathing, blood circulation and body temperature.... RMR and BMR are similar but different. RMR represents the amount of energy your body needs to function while at rest. But it includes the calories necessary for low-effort daily activities like going to the bathroom and getting dressed. RMR is slightly higher than BMR by about 10% due to the calorie needs of these low-energy activities. 2, record 4, English, - resting%20metabolic%20rate

Motor nerves in the peripheral nervous system carry information from the brain to the body. Scientists came up with the name "motor" because the first motor nerves studied were those that help with muscle movement, or what scientists call motor function. It was later discovered that motor nerves have other purposes in addition to making muscles move. They also send messages from the brain and the spinal cord to body organs. For example, motor nerves help the process of digestion by stimulating cells in the stomach to break down food chemically. 2, record 14, English, - motor%20nerve

A standard medical approach, indeed a common lay-person's approach, to thinking about disability involves viewing it as a problem that exists in a person's body. As a consequence, that individual is thought to require treatment or care to fix the disability, to approximate normal functioning, or perhaps as a last measure, to help the individual adapt and learn to function despite the disability. So construed, disability is primarily an individual' s medical problem in need of treatment.... this medical model of disability holds that "a person's functional limitations(impairments) are the root cause of any disadvantages experienced and these disadvantages can therefore only be rectified by treatment or cure. Morbid obesity, also referred to as clinically severe obesity or extreme obesity, is a chronic disease that afflicts approximately 9 million adult Americans.... The morbidity and mortality risk from being overweight is proportional to its degree. Individuals with morbid obesity, therefore, have the highest risk for developing numerous illnesses that often reduce mobility and quality of life due to their excess weight. In particular, type 2 diabetes, gallbladder disease and osteoarthritis have been found to increase concurrently with higher BMI [body mass index]. Premature death, a 20-year shorter life span, has also been found in individuals with morbid obesity. All of the systems that make the body function are affected by morbid obesity. 10, record 16, English, - morbid%20obesity

The simple(brachydont) teeth are the first premolars(wolf tooth) and canines that have a distinct crown and root, but have no function for the domestic horse. The incisors and molars(cheek teeth) are hypsodont, like the molars of ruminants(cows, goats and sheep etc). This type of tooth has a large body that continues to erupt into the horse's mouth as they are worn down by fibrous feed material. Most of the tooth is below the gum line in younger horses and continues to develop as it enters the mouth. 3, record 19, English, - hypsodont

Traditionally, administrative tribunals have been allowed to intervene in Higher Court proceedings where jurisdictional or operational matters have been in issue. However, one aspect of the IRB's [Immigration and Refugee Board] increased focus on strategic adjudication of its cases may include a need for the IRB to seek leave to intervene in more of its cases before the higher courts. The IRB's [Immigration and Refugee Board] ability to establish a consistent and coherent body of jurisprudence depends, in part, on the establishment of a coordinated and rational approach to its adjudicative function. To be most effective, each division must establish a selective and strategic approach to the adjudication of issues. This adjudication strategy is aimed at identifying the relatively small number of cases that merit the division's particular attention because they are cases that have the potential to shape the Board's jurisprudence. 2, record 31, English, - adjudication%20strategy

2, record 31, French, - strat%C3%A9gie%20d%C3%A9cisionnelle

Restrictive cardiomyopathy(RCM) is a rare form of heart muscle disease that is characterized by restrictive filling of the ventricles. In this disease the contractile function(squeeze) of the heart and wall thicknesses are usually normal, but the relaxation or filling phase of the heart is very abnormal. This occurs because the heart muscle is stiff and poorly compliant and does not allow the ventricular chambers to fill with blood normally. This inability to relax and fill with blood results in a “back up” of blood into the atria(top chambers of the heart), lungs and body causing the symptoms and signs of heart failure. 2, record 35, English, - restrictive%20cardiomyopathy

3, record 39, French, - plasticit%C3%A9%20intrins%C3%A8que

When Leaders met in Cancun for the first anniversary of the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America(SPP), they recognized that more direct advice from the private sector would help to drive progress on measures that would be most effective in enabling North American companies to attract investment and create jobs. The results was the creation of the North American Competitiveness Council(NACC), a trilateral advisory body made up of business leaders from each of the three countries. In doing so, Leaders decided that the NACC should function fully independently of governments. NACC members then requested the support of organizations with relevant expertise in each country to act as their secretariats, and my Council is pleased to be serving as the Canadian secretariat. 3, record 55, English, - North%20American%20Competitiveness%20Council

Brightness temperatures are both a measure of the physical temperature within the snow and a gauge of emissivity, or the ability of water or ice/snow to emit radiation at the microwave frequencies (frequencies in the centimeter wavelength range). Dry snow emits much less radiation than wet snow, which behaves almost like a perfect emitter (blackbody), giving off a wide range of frequencies of radiation. The word "brightness" is often used by physicists to mean what illumination engineers and laboratory photometrists call "luminance". However, astronomers usually use "brightness" for what is more usually called "radiance", or even "spectral radiance" (whence the term "brightness temperature", used in astrophysics, radio astronomy, planetary science and remote sensing, for the temperature of a black body having the same spectral radiance as an astrophysical object at some wavelength). AS FIRST stated, the theory of democratic centralism, as the functional method of a political party, was based on the following reasoning : Social revolutionists needed not a mere parliamentary organization but a party of action which would function as a scientific body of direction, a vanguard of activists tied to the revolutionary masses, and a central control organon. The party should be An elite body professional revolutionists dedicating their lives to the cause and carrying out their decisions with iron discipline. A key feature of lymphocyte function is that, unlike other body cells, small lymphocytes recirculate from blood to lymph. Recirculation is likely to be of great functional importance in allowing memory cells to be disseminated from a site of antigen stimulation to other parts of the body. Lymphocytes migrate from blood into lymph nodes... In the spleen the lymphocytes migrate from the anastomosing capillaries... B and T cells exit the lymph nodes by the efferent lymphatics and enter the lymph to be returned to the blood and continue to cycle. 1, record 88, English, - recirculation

1, record 88, French, - recirculation
