Electro-osmosis is the transport of water from one electrode to another. It results from the support medium being charged. At neutral and alkaline pH the charge is usually negative, the charged medium therefore attempts to move towards the anode. To balance this, positively charged water molecules (H3O+) move to the cathode. This movement of water does not affect the fractionating capacity but can cause loss of water from reservoirs, thus altering the homogeneity of the electrophoretic field. 4, record 16, English, - electroosmosis

Silylation is the introduction of a(usually) substituted silyl group(R3Si–) to a molecule. 4, record 22, French, - carboxyle

Simultaneous engineering is understood to mean an integrated, parallel approach to designing the product and the process at the same time, e.g. in vehicle development. The basic idea of this concept is to move from formerly strictly sequential, discrete processes towards carrying them out in parallel or overlapping them. 3, record 31, English, - simultaneous%20engineering
Record number: 31, Textual support number: 2 CONT
Design process is defined as being the whole of the tasks necessary for an idea, originating from customer needs, to be achieved as a product or service satisfying the said customer's needs. Some of these tasks are sequential, but as the "time to market"(development cycle) has to be shorter every day, several tasks are led in parallel : risk studies are launched even before having finished the functional analysis, etc... This concept is named Simultaneous Engineering, or Competing Engineering or Integrated Development. It is supported by a serie of methodologic tools, based on quality(Quality Function Deployment-QFD, Value Analysis, Functional Analysis, FMEA, Design For Manufacturing,...) and organization(Project Group, Process Organization,...) as well as on technologic means(Computer Assisted Design, Computer Assisted Manufacturing, Fast Prototype Process,...). 2, record 31, English, - simultaneous%20engineering

If you see a chemical compound with the "ol" as a suffix its an alcohol. You can have a low molecular weight alcohol like methanol(CH3OH) or a high molecular weight alcohol like glycerol(CH2OH·CHOH·CH2OH). What they all have in common is what chemists call a functional group-in this case it's the OH group-called a hydroxyl group. The number of hydroxyl groups determine whether it's an alcohol or a polyol(containing more than one hydroxyl groups). The most common ones are what chemists call the lower alcohols. In order of increasing molecular weight they are :-Methanol.... Ethanol.... Pure,(undenatured) alcohol.... SDA [which] is the most important commercial from of ethanol.... Industrial alcohol.... CDA [which] is completely denatured alcohol.... Propanol.... Butanol. 4, record 33, English, - lower%20alcohol

Azides are a group of both organic and inorganic compounds containing the N3 functional group. In general, azides are reactive and toxic. In fact, inorganic azides are commonly used as preservatives in biological solutions because of the ability of the N3 group to bind tightly to cytochromes and block electron transport and ATP synthesis. All of the heavy metal azides and most, if not all, of the light metal azides are explosive under the right conditions. Alcohol' s are important solvents in finishing. 6, record 39, English, - higher%20alcohol
