The Canadian Amateur Swimming Association(CAS A) was created in 1909 in order to serve as Canada's governing body of competitive swimming. In 1987, the organization changed its name to Swimming Natation Canada(SNC), representing a more concise bilingual alternative. This also enabled the organization to act more precisely in reflecting its emergence as a functionally oriented, non-profit corporation.
